FINALLY(!!!) the stars have aligned and we were able to make a reservation.

We will be on Site #49 for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights.

For the group dinner, we will bring a good sized tray of Baked Ziti and most likely another smaller tray with Meatballs and/or Sausage in sauce.

I know I mentioned this earlier.. We will be arriving quite late on Thursday night. I will be picking Kathy up from school around 3:30 and we will be leaving right from there. This should put us at the campground sometime around 11pm depending on the traffic down here. The most direct rotue means I have to travel through Philadelphia (ugh).

I am certainly more than willing to pitch in on Friday to setup the group tent or any other preparations we need to make.

Looking forward to this one for sure!

- Frank

Sunday breakfast

Hi Steve:

Lorie and I are just back from the grocery store. We'll bring some orange juice and a loaf of cranberry bread and a loaf of banana nut bread for breakfast Sunday.

Well we are all packed....finally

Head out in the morning for northern Ohio and north central NY camping. We will arrive at Nick’s Lake on Wednesday.

I am bringing these things for the M & G.

5 lb pancake mix
64 oz of Mrs Butterworth syrup
20 qt pot to mix the pancake mix in
2 ½ gal hot drink cooler for Sunday breakfast coffee.
I do have some Maxwell House filter packs to make up at least 1, fill up of the 2 gallon coffee jug. I do not have creamer or sugar.

Extra tarp in case we need it. This was requested several pages ago.
Spare truck tarp buggies.
I have a liquid fuel lantern we can use.

Since Joe and Kathy have a big burner stove and pot, I will leave my extra stove and extra large pots home. The truck is bursting at the seams now. Glad I got a 1 ton…. Need to convert back to backpacking. A lot less stuff....

I don’t know about Internet on the road. Maybe, maybe not pending a connection and or a phone signal. So you may not hear much from me here on the forum.

Everyone have safe travels. See you all soon. This is going to be great!!

John and Cindy

PS If you need anything I didn't list, post 1st thing in the AM, I'll check in before heading out.

We'll be there for Sunday's breakfast and plan on bringing breakfast sausage and hash browns. As for Friday's informal dinner gathering, we'll probably be there also, unless we're out paddling somewhere. There was a recent discussion about carrying canoes/kayaks so thought I'd throw this photo of a full load in.

Of course when we don't have the grandkids with us I don't need to carry 4 kayaks. And less than 20 miles away at another CG we were visited by this guy over Labor Day.

Someone was feeding them and wondered why they wouldn't leave. DUH!
We're looking forward to next weekend.

Mike

The weather for this coming weekend is improving!

And, for those that were aware, baby watch is over. Our newest grandson, Benjamin, finally showed up on Saturday morning. Mom and baby are fine. Grandma is exhausted.

Updated weather forecast for the Old Forge M&G:

For autumn in the Adirondacks, it doesn't get too much better than this!

Where here!

John and Cindy have arrived.... My goodness what a beautiful park.

Bring rain gear, we are experianceimg large quantities of liquid sun shine right now.

Just backed in the site and the heavans opened up...... It waited just for us! Can't beat that.

I would post a pic but can't figure out how to do that from a Black Berry

AT&T has service here. At least enough to allow a log in.

Well, got to go start supper.

Safe travels to all

Happy Campers

Glad you got there safely. And it really is a great place.

Here's the weather outlook as of today. Looks like we'll have decent weather through until Sunday and even then, probably not a deluge. Thursday night and Friday night are gonna be chilly. Another weather site is predicting temps even lower than 35F. Stay warm!

If all goes well, we plan to be up there by 2 PM or so. Depends on how efficient we are in the morning getting the last of our stuff in the trailer. It's about a 3 1/2 hour ride for us so we're not going to try to be on the road any earlier than 9 or 10.

We're pretty much all set and ready to roll. Heading out tomorrow about 3:30.

You guys better be hungry, there's about 20 pounds of Ziti, Sausage and Meatballs prepped and ready to go into the oven on Saturday!

That is a chilly nighttime forecast. I keep one of those buddy heaters in the trailer just in case. I might need to tote that over to the group tent for those late night yak sessions.

We didn't come this year because we had family coming to stay with us for a wedding they were going to. Saturday morning we get a phone call, they aren't going to make it. So here we sit wishing we were in the ADK's. Hope everyone is having a good time.

Mike & Roz, where your ears ringing???? We were talking about you!

Weather wasn't the greatest but the friendship, campfires, food and "bar" made up for that!

We made it home in no time flat - gosh that one mile drive just got us worn out!

Hopefully you'll make it next year!
