Hi Jon, On our last trip out we noticed how filthy the windows were so Steve got out the Invisible Glass Sheets. He did the whole trialer with 2 sheets, and we have tons of windows in our 2753, and boy do they sparkle! They are wonderful!!! Then as we were leaving I found the DropIns under the bathroom sink. We always add a little water to the toilet and some chemicals. Again...WOW what a convenience...loved not having to deal with liquid chemicals. So far I'd say the companies who donated did a very smart thing. We've now tried 2 new products that we'll most likely buy instead of what we were previously buying. And thank you and your Mom so much for putting the bags together

Holy smokes that was a lot of stuff....

OK, who's the Eagle Scout? I see the NESA plaque there in the background...and the certificates, etc.- but the plaque jumped right out.

Troop 73, Holliston, MA date of Eagle was 1990, IIRC (I have my handbook tucked away somewhere...)

Both myself and my Dad, but that is his certificate on "his" wall. My wall is by the couch and there's no room for the certificate. It's full up of license plates (Out of state only-I used to have my large MI collection in my room, before the Sunline theme.

My dad was May something of 1967 and I got it on October 19, 2004. He was in Troop 1104, Dearborn, MI and I was T-777, Northville, MI.

At the COH after-party:

Congrats, mine was earned while I was in T-847 in Fredericksburg, VA, NCAC.

John did you make it to any of the Jamboree's?

I did make it to '05, and boy was that an experience. Not just the fact that it was a Jamboree, but all the "special events" that took place- the heat (129 heat index one day), violent storms with strong wind, etc. I still remember the evening with the storm. We had a scheduled arena show, and they cancelled it from the heat and distant storms, of course after everyone had lined up. Fortunately, since my camp was only about a mile from the arena entrance, we got back somewhat quickly and the word of the storm got around quick. We immediately packed away as much stuff as we could, tied up the tent corners (since they had to be open in 129 degrees!), and tried to tie down things in camp as much as possible. I remember when they made the decision to drop some of the western tents and evacuate them in case the entrance way fell. I think my tentmate and I gained two extra people if I remember correctly and when that storm came, it came. I remember laying in my cot and leaning over to hold the tent down to the ground. I had my foot on one spot and both hands on another. In the end, most people's tents remained standing, but a few did blow over. Afterwards, our camp was OK, but the whole area around it was a mess from the trash cans blowing over. The SM got the whole troop out into the road to clean up as much trash as possible until it got dark.

Jon, Did you get to go to Philmont? Steve led a trip there and he & our youngest (Ross) just loved it. Ross got his Eagle 3/30/03 from Troop 456. It's quite an honor - congratulations on yours!

Jon

Thanks to you and Mom and Dad for helping put all that stuff together. A lot of work and we greatly appreciate it.

It is also good to see other Scouters chime in here as well. An experience second to none for Youth or Adult. Prior ASM and SM, Troop 200 Dublin Ohio.

Again thanks for the goodie bags.

John

I was lucky- I was able to do Philmont, 1989 National Jamboree, and the National Order of the Aroow Conclave.

I think I know what I'll be putting together before the Meet and Greet! Just gotta remember where I stashed all those nifty photos and patches....

Sorry I never answered. I did not go to Philmont, other than just for a visit while on our out west trip. My dad went though.

Greg, did you ever get my e-mail?

Jon,

Yeah- I have been so ridiculously busy lately though that this is my first day back onto the forum since we last had the Eagle Scout talk.....wicked cool letter- I really liked the "points" near the end.

Sorry I never got back to you about that- between work, camping, geocaching, biking, shooting, work, family stuff, and on and on.... I've been averaging about 3-4 hours of sleep for the past month... not good when one considers what I do for work . I am smart enough, though, to know when to take a nap, ya know?

Only 7 more work days until vacation to Ohio...only 7 more work days...

Camping at Normandy Farms, Foxborough, MA this weekend...should be weird at a "resort campground" after the state park two weeks ago.

who needs rest? We got CAMPIN' afoot!

If you like disc golf at all make sure you bring your discs. When I lived in Providence I drove up to Normandy Farms often to play their course and use the pools in between golfing rounds. I even caught a couple of pick up softball games from time to time that they scheduled through their activities planning.

While I can't testify to the camping amenities other than one night in a tent when it rained so hard that everything got rediculously soaked(we packed up and went home at 5am Sat morning ), it is quite a nice recreation day park.

I hope you have as much fun as I did, enjoy your weekend... go Pats

Take care,
Jason

They are a very good time, I went in 1993 as a scout, and 1997 and 2001 as a staff member (shotgun range), and filled in durning 2005 as a Scout Master for the local troop that went. I have thought about applying for staff again next summer, but I am not sure I will have the extra days to take off for 2 weeks to do it.
