What's with this WEATHER??

I don't know what it's been like in other areas of the country, but in Michigan we've been experiencing late November/Dec weather since Oct 1!! I'm not one to complain about weather, but October is one of our favorite camping months and we have not been able to go.

This weekend was scheduled to be our final trip of the year, but the temperatures are supposed to drop into the low 20's at night where we were planning to go. That's pushing our luck with the water system, and too cold for the kids to do much outside. We hate running the furnace in the coach, and instead usually take a small, thermostatically controlled space heater to keep things warm. With the size of the fifth wheel I don't think this would do much. Plus it does not help protect the water lines as the furnace does.

We've been colder than normal here in eastern PA as well. We're supposed to go to Pine Grove Furnace this weekend, but we'll probably opt out with highs forcast mid 40's and likely rain. It'll probably be even colder up on top of the mountain where Pine Grove is. Highly disappointing Of course there's always the chance they'll change the forcast ?

We're supposed to go on a Cub Scout Campout Saturday night. With the forecast for Maryland being torrential rain (1-3 inches) starting Thursday night through Sunday and temps in the low 50's daytime, high 30's nighttime, I know where me and the kids are going to be Saturday night, and it's not in a TENT at Calvert Cliffs SP !!!

Hopefully, things will be looking better next weekend for Sunny and us to be at Artillery Ridge in Gettysburg, PA. Brother-in-law & family are bringing thier beast (Volvo Tractor & 40' Cedar Creek Fiver) for a family fun weekend.

Bozeman, MT

Last year at this time we were in Bozeman, MT heading West. The weather was comfortable but cool, this year it's well below freezing in Bozeman. Actually of the nine last years of our travels, 2008/09 was the coldest. I believe it will be beaten this year.

We're still home in NH but the winter weather is a month ahead of normal.

This is going to be one cold winter, there have been 224 days without Sunspots this year and no sunspots means cooling as was the case last year and the year before.

The media have been tauting Global Warming for more than a decade have changed their tune, the scientific facts are beginning to overwhelm the media hype.

The earth has been cooling for 11 years now, winters will be coming sooner and be harsher. Simply means more southern camping for the frigid or more heated tanks for the bold.

We've always had to winterize right after Columbus Day. We thought we could stretch it 2 weeks longer this year, but I'm starting to have second thoughts. Last weekend we went to a campground in Mount Pocono. Mount Pocono always has the coldest temps in N.E.Pa, and we experienced it first hand. Saturday night was cold even around the campfire. Everyone was in their trailers by 9:30. Sunday morning everything outside was frozen. Hopefully the weather will cooperate for another 1-1/2 weeks until our last trip is done.

The northern Adirondack Mountains (where we like to spend at least a month every year) are experiencing nightly lows in the teens or low 20's.

It's a little warmer here in western New York State amidst the Finger Lakes but still chilly at night.

Boy we sure had the M & G this year just in time.

As to the weather, Central Ohio is 20 degrees colder this year then last as declared by the radio weather guy. October use to be a really great camping month. The rain and cold is early. We have not yet had a killer frost.

Stay warm everyone and dry.

John

Rainy, soggy day here, about 45 degrees. Gary sick as a dog in bed with the flu thats going around, and it's VERY ARE for him to miss work. We are still hoping to get the plumbing on Sunny fixed and get in another camping weekend or two, but "stuff" just keeps getting in the way of progress. Well, gotta scoot, headed to the bus garage to pick up my first ever brand new bus. I've had nothing but hand me downs since 1991.

Colder than seasonal temps here in Ontario as well. However I am not letting this stop us from camping during the month of October. So far we have been out each weekend in October and will be camping again this weekend.

We are getting the rig ready for our winter camping trips again this year. However this year we plan in using our full water sytem as we have added tank heaters, drain pipe heates and added extra insulation to the wate pipes. After each trip we will just blow out the lines, dump the fresh and Hot Water tank and then run RV anti freeze through all the lines and add it to the drains after each trip. I pretty much have this down to about a 15 minute job. Unlike last year, where we left our unit on a campsite during the winter, we plan on towing it to the various campgrounds this winter.

Well it's October 15th and everything is snow covered. Started as rain this morning. When I left work it was a rain/snow mix, but the closer I got to home, the more it turned to all snow. The leaves haven't even fallen off the trees yet.

We were supposed to drive from here down Route 15 to Carlisle PA today. From the looks of things, we would have been in a snow storm most of the way down.

And it is only October 15th!

Cheer up, it is supposed to be in the upper 50's, lower 60's by the middle of next week.

I am still counting on making it to Pine Hill in two weeks.
