What I did saturday

Attached you'll find a few photos of what "I" did this saturday, amazing that I never even went near poor Sunny. I did this because sometimes I get away from home longer than I initially plan and worry about the pups being in the house so long, so I needed a fix for that.

The doggie door is 2" thick, my wall is 4" thick, so I chose to put the door towards the inside of the wall and build a "frame" between the exterior wall and the door to fill in the 2 inch gap. The door is located under the aluminum awning that is over the steps, so it is pretty protected from the weather. I just need to clean up the caulk mess at the bottom of the door, as some of it was there from a previous deck that was on the house, well mobile home 14 X74 ', too big for just me & the pups. Also you'll notice that I put the top piece of trim on a slight slope, that's so if water should get on it, it will drain away from the house door. That's how I spent my friday evening and saturday, thanks for looking.

Kitty

Looks good Kitty, I'm sure the dogs appreciate having the run of the place both inside and out. Strangely enough I just put one in a newly installed door at my house so my dog didn't have to 'get permission' to go outside. I love it and I'm pretty sure my dog does as well.

Take care,
Lode

Hi Jason,

Thanks for the nice compliments. I bet you were a LOT faster installing yours than I was installing mine. I probably would have been faster had I been installing it in a 2" thick door/wall. The extra framing for the wall took time, both on the "thinking" and creating part.

Harley is already a pro at using the door, KD is afraid of it. She is kinda skiddish, so I'm not rushing her, she will gradually learn to use it. If I hole the flap up, she has gone thru it 3 times. SO, it's in the "learning stage".

See you in June.

Will you be bringing a Sunline & a Lodeline ?

Kitty

What a cool project! You are brave cutting a hole in your house! Isn't it funny how the little dogs have all the guts, and the big ones are big babies? Pepper will chase a Rotweiler and not think a thing about it...well maybe that's not guts but just plain dumb.

Not sure "IF" I was brave or just plain nuts to think I could do it And once I had that big hole, I knew I had to cover it up somehow I am pleased with how it looks, so that's good enuff for me.

You did a good job. I can paint, hang wallpaper and change light bulbs - that's about all.

Won't be bringing the Lodeline as she's still in frame stage setting in the corner of the garage collecting dust.

I've had so much to do as of lately it's not even funny and it's way low on the list at the moment. As soon as I get the bathroom gutted and refinished here at my house my wife and I are moving home!

I'll just be bringing the Suneline to the M&G... and my mother in law and dog will be joining the group this year!

Time is rolling in on it quick... I'm excited.

Take care,
Lode
