We're finally going camping!
After five months of restorations, sweat, hard work, trials, tests and tribulations, we are finally going camping.
I took the camper in today for inspection and she passed! That made me very, very happy!
The last two days have been a crash course in getting repairs finished up. I removed the final bit of rot, put in some new framing and paneling, repaired the valve behind the toilet, repaired the leaky hose that comes from the reserve tank to the pump, tested the stove out, fixed the exhaust fan above the stove and repaired the bathroom door-it closes and latches now.
I'm staying up late to finish up some further repairs and see how much more I can get accomplished before we take it out tomorrow afternoon for our first camping trip at French Creek State Park. The park is only 15 miles from home and I thought it would be a good first trip and a chance for me to get use to hooking up and disconnecting etc. We got a great spot with electric right next to the bathroom.
Still on the list:
1. Wire in the new stereo speakers (did I mentiontion they're 200 watts?)
2. Install the television antenna.
3. Finish a bit of paneling in the ceiling.
4. Put the splash guard up in the bathroom shower walls.
I also have to look into a leaky grey water connection at the y connection where everything offloads. I might need a gasket in there. I didn't see a crack anywhere so it looks like it's leaking out from the actual connection.
This will be a fun weekend for the family regardless of rain or shine. Though thunderstorms are on their way into the area we are hoping they will skip us entirely so we can enjoy camping, swimming, fishing and a campfire!
I'll post pictures later on!
