Well, we have traded

We have loved both our Sunlines but have traded for something more suitable to our needs now that the grandsons have all grown up.

Our new 2013 Cougar 31RKS will arrive the 2nd week of May. It is truly bitter/sweet in that our Sunlines gave us many fantastic memories and miles.

Our 276SR was my home for 18 months while working a consulting job in Hobbs, New Mexico. It has been to many states including New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, South Dakota, Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Indiania, Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland, Kentucky, Virgina, Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas.

It has served us well and every single thing on it works as fine as the day we picked it up in Palmyra, Pa.

I still have the Sunline spare tire cover that was never used once we got it, the snow globe, and a brake assembly and wheel bearings for all 4 wheels, never used. Not sure what I will do with them but they must go to someone in this group.

Anyway, we are very excited to be getting the new Cougar and very sad to part with the Sunline.

Paul & Jan, welcome to the SOB group of SOC!

As our rigs get older, as do we, and our needs change many of us make that move with the same bitter/sweet feelings!

May you enjoy your new Cougar as you did your Sunline!

Happy Camping!

Here are some photos of the brake and bearing parts I have. Two complete bearing sets and four brake assembly sets. All brand new. Just bolt them on, hook up the wires and adjust.

Paul & Jan, Glad you had so many good years with your Sunline. Look back with fond memories and make lots of new ones with your new rig. Checking it out online, your new camper model looks wonderful. The galley and bathroom space are great.

While we can't use your brakes, I could be interested in your snowglobe. We're on our 3rd Sunline and the globe would find a good home here, but maybe it should stay with you?

ANOTHER SOB !!! Welcome to the 'club'. Strange that we have wandered away to a different brand, but still stay here at SOC.

Somethings you can't give up.

My brother is coming out from Pittsburgh next week and we will be taking our Sunline out for our last outing in it. We are headed to Stockton Lake, MO to harrass the crappe and walleye. We will be givng it a good "field day" upon our return and hopefully by that time the new Cougar will be in.

I surely will stay in touch. There is a Keystone site much like this one that has lots of information on the Keystones. Much of the great info here is equally applicable to the Keystones.

Welcome to the SOB's but once a SOC always a SOC. You'll find like I did with the Forest River chat site with 34000 members that they are informative but this group is much more personal. There we get answers but here we make friends too. Congratulations.

Well, the big annual fishng trip wth my brother was cancelled and the Sunline trade in delayed. I came down with pneumonia and it kicked my butt. Well on the road to recovery now but Doc says it will be a month before I fully get my strength back.

It is Saturday May 18. Our new 2014 Keystone Cougar 31RKS is in Springfield, MO. We will be picking it up Tuesday and leaving our beloved 2006 Sunline 276SR behind.

We have our reservations for the remainder of the week at Cooper Creek in Branson. Bransons Resort Cabins,Campground on Lake Taneycomo in Branson, Mo Branson Rv Camping.

Our grandson Austin has just completed his Junior year at Missouri State in Springfield and will be joning us for one night camping and the next day trout fishing.

Will post photos of the new rig and trout on the grill.

I have opted to put the unused Sunline spare tire cover back on the unit. I think it the right thing to do. This 276SR is a fine rig that has been used but always garaged when not in use. Any repairs done to it have been posted on this site somewhere. I will leave a note in the Sunline manual telling the future owners about the fine people and information here.

Paul,

WOW...life comes at ya fast... Hope you are feeling better.

New camper about to the come home. Always good times with excitement and concerns.

Next comes, h'mm where do I put this, and that... and after about 3 moves.. it ends up in the right place. Let's see if history repeats itself...

Good luck and looking forward to the pics of the adventure.

John

Definitely feeling better John. Jan is a retired nurse so I have had great care at home. I'm gonna make it.

Upon studying the issues some Keystone owners have had I have a list of things to check prior to accepting the Cougar. One of my concerns was a newfangled electronic control panel that has pushbuttons for everything. A number of owners have had this panel fail and lock up. I contacted Keystone and requested the older panel that had rocker switches. Surprisingly, they gave me the rocker switch panel.

Only other big issue is to ensure that the belly cover is secured all around the edges. Some owners have found large gaps in theirs.

Our two slideouts have no topper yet. I will get those put on when our new Camping World opens just 4 miles from home in a few weeks. Or I may install them myself. Looking at the Carefree Kover II.
