Well it has happened again

Last Tuesday morning (3am) I awoke with pressure on my chest, pain like I've never felt pain before, numbness in my left arm radiating into my neck & jaw.......guess what was happening???? Unfortunately I have been suffering from coronary artery disease since 2004, with now 6 heart caths, numerous stints and balloon angioplasties......and with the symptons I was presenting with, I knew I was headed to the hospital!!!! Leo called for the ambulance and off I went.....I spent time in the ER and then swooped off to the cath lab. Two arteries (left descending arteries a/k/a/ the "widow makers") blocked at 95% and 65% - Docs decided not to try anymore stints, since obviously the ones I have are not working.....and did the balloon angioplasty - they are hoping to get a few years out of the procedure - then it is bypass surgery......I'm not pleased with the outcome but my feet are on this side of the dirt .

I just had a nuclear stress test in April with no negative findings, so this attack came as a complete surprise! I am getting about 1 year of non-symptomatic issues and then I just "block up"....Doc said my blockages are "quick" to come and the least little or abnormal pain I need to get to the hospital right away, especially since we live an hour away from the hospital!

I'm feeling much better (physically & mentally) and I'm writing to tell everyone to "listen" to your body....if you "think" something is wrong, don't second guess yourself - get to a doctor! The life you save may be your own!!!!!!

Holy Cow Kathy, sorry to hear of your health problems, but sure am glad to hear things turned out ok. I guess we ALL need to look at how we take care of ourselves and re-think how we shrug off aches & pains. Thanks for letting us know that your OK.

Kitty

Kathy,

Gail and I both hope you'll do well with the angioplasty for quite a while.

Take good care of yourself.

Kathy,

Our prayers are with you for a speedy recovery. Tell Leo he's gonna have to pick pick up the pace and stop working you so hard.

Glad to hear things are going well.

Technology is amazing...back to work eight days! Ten years ago my Dad was 10 WEEKS recovering from the only option available then for a 95% blocked artery...Bypass.

Take care.

Kathy,
Glad to hear all is going well. Take good care of yourself and make sure to tell Leo that a good foot massage each night helps relax, calm & sooth. When I was in getting my new mitral valve a while back, I tried the same on Sue but she wouldn't take the bait. Maybe you will have better luck with Leo Marshall

Glad to hear your feeling better. Yes it will be some 15-20 yrs. since my Dads bypass. He's now 84 and still working his garden. Thanks for all your great posts on here, they are always kind and informative. We will keep you in our thoughts.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you. And your advice is well taken. Just this Monday my Grandfather was rushed to the hospital with chest pain. He is 83 and has had 7 bypasses so at the slightest onset of chest pains he goes to the doctor. This time thankfully it was just a severe case of indigestion.
