Weekend at Golden Hill SP

For those that I have been communicating with here I am introducing my DW - Amy

AMY: - Hi everybody - I am his DW and I am aware of his antics on this website. Since I haven't posted before...I am his "technonerd" because he is totally illiterate, clueless, and challenged in the computer department.

So, when he wanted to post pictures, guess who he came to for help...
Here are some pics of our trip to Golden Hill State Park in Barker, NY

Our set up.

Our sunset - how beautiful!

30 Mile Point Lighthouse - named that because to mariners of that day, that lighthouse was the 30 mile point to the Niagara River.

Our campsite again with my "screaming yellow zonker." I am sure my technically challenged DH has described my car to all of you before. Well, now here it is in all it's shining glory.

It's a real pleasure meeting all of you...maybe I will set up my own ID soon.

THANK YOU PTHUTCH - for the instructions on how to upload photos, and to attach a photo to your profile.

Nuts4beads_at (AKA Mrs Bobo)

I resemble that remark! Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk!

I'll admit, she has the brains and I have the common sense. You ask her about anything pertaining to her meatwagon duty, nursing or computer, she has the answer. To have her water a plant, clean up or do something simple, forget it. That's where I come in. It's pretty obvious who does the trailering and setting up, takedown etc. We complete each other . Where one lacks, the other picks up on it. I think we will keep each other.

Bobo

PS; I'm also the cook. McD's and BK lost a lot of business when we met.

Those are some great pictures. I've wanted to go camping out there. We've only been out there to look at the lighthouse.

We liked it so much that we're going back in three weekends. That huge rear window in our T-2499 was the right choice. To wake up in the morning and the first thing you see out that window is a beautiful view of Lake Ontario. There was always a cooling breeze each day despite the near ninety temp. And for only $24 per night, it's a great deal. Had 30 amp svc. and water on top of prime waterfront view. The site was B-3 and the next visit is also waterfront. Took Rt. 18 all the way out for a great casual tow.

Wow! When we go back east, maybe the fall of '08 or spring of '09, we will have to keep that place in mind. I want to go back to see the Submarine base in New London, Conn. Spent a few years in and out of there in the '60s.

Last weekend Jan and I took the Sunline to Pine Lake Resort in Pittsfield Ill just to get away. Our kids brought their '98 2475 so we had two Sunlines side by side for the weekend. Also had a ball with the Grand ones.

Definitly make reservations ahead of time through Reserve America. The park fills fast. B loop is the waterfront sites and they also have waterfront for tent campers too.
When we go back later this month, I'll walk around and give an inspection so I can write a review for our fellow Sunliners. When we were there last month it was for destressing so all we did was stay at the site and toured the lighthouse, which is diagonal to B loop.
It is one of the nicer SPs I have stayed at.

Went back for another weekend. A bit windy and stormy. We watched the lightning over the lake at night. Very interesting. Saw plenty of ships go past about ten miles out and one tug/barge combo about one mile out trying to stay within the lee of the shore. It was hot and humid but the on shore breeze was always blowing, helping out. At night the off shore breeze kicks in making the night enjoyable. Definitly going back again next year.
Check the campground review forum. I wrote a quick reference for this park.

Have a great Labor Day Weekend everyone. It is supposed to be sunny and in the eighties here in Upstate NY.
