Hi Lewis,

I love these kinds of questions!!!

In case you haven't found all your VIN locations, here's a bit of a pictorial diagram:

This coach is the same floorplan as yours but it's an '82.

The VIN should be on both the frame below the upper bed and on a sticker on the side. Very few stickers remain though, so it's unlikely yours is still there. It would look like this if you had it:

Unfortunately there's no way to tell the exact build month without having the sticker. I do have some records of dates with some of the stickers that remain, but I have very few.

So anyway, about the VIN breakdown for yours:

1LC- standard Sunline code, used on everything 1981.5 to 2007
3- designates Fifth Wheel. 2 for TT, 7 for TC, 4 for utility trailer, 5 for toy hauler
S- used for all coaches except the Advancer line, which used "A".
1- not sure of the designation, but they used the "1" into the mid '90's when they changed to 2. Then there was a "3", but only on the Que's in '07.
H- Rough length class. It means your coach length is in the 18-19' category. G was for 16-17, J was for 20-21, and so on.
1- total number of axles- usually "1" or "2", only the prototype FW in '02 would have a "3", but I've never seen it.
_- your check digit...has no significance really other than it completes the VIN. There seems to be a theory to making them, so it simply helps with finding consecutive ones.
F- Indicates the model year produced. F=1985, G=1986, and so on.
D- Indicates it was built at the Denver, PA plant. There was only one other production plant, but it was only open from 1993-2004.
18- indicates rough length of the coach, should confirm the length code listed above. This indicated the in-bed length on truck campers, but otherwise meant overall length.
_ _ _ _- the last four of your VIN indicates the production sequence in the model year. It started at 1000 and went to about 2600 for the plant it was built in, most likely plant 1. There was also a 5000 series that seemed to produce from 5000 to about 5700.

Jon

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that yours was probably built in January, 1985. I also have #1640, which is a C-951, and it was built in January.
