Vent Covers

Does anyone know the brand of roof vent that Sunline used? I need to replace one of the plastic roof vent covers and am seeing them advertised by brand.

Thank you!

Paul,

If they are Ventline brand, the name will be molded in the plastic framing around the screen. On mine, the word is right near the crank handle.

Other brands may have the name molded in one or both of the plastic shrouds or screen frames.

I seem to recall that Sunline changed suppliers for the roof vents in the mid-2000's so yours may not be Ventlines.

The newer coaches I believe had the Jensen, New Style. I know they are slightly different than the ones I've had in the past.

The difference is all in the hinge, so if you get a good look at it or can take your old one, that's the best way to tell.

This page may help:

http://www.marksrv.com/vents.htm

Gives info on identifying each brand of vent plus other handy facts. Lots of parts and such available, too.

The only way to be sure which vents are actually installed on your TT is to examine them carefully and either find a manufacturer name or compare them with the info on the webpage listed above.

Thanks for the help! I was up there yesterday looking at the hinge and believe it is a Ventline. Those pictures came in handy! There are no markings on the thing anywhere! Well, maybe some very small markings somewhere, but I can't see them.

Trying to figure out how to get the cover off the arm that pushes it up when the crank is turned without bending the arm.....

Thank you again for the replies! I just returned from taking the camper out to Arizonia and Utah. What a great country! What a great camper!

Paul,

Take the arm off before you remove the hinge. Make sure to keep all hardware seperated.

1: Remove the four screws holding the interior trim on.
2: Remove the two screws holding the screen in. They are in the center of two opposing sides.
3: Remove the one screw holding the crank handle on.
4: Pull down on the crank handle with one hand while holding the screen with the other
5: Remove both the crank handle and screen
6: Remove the two screws holding the crank mechanism up. Let it slide down
7: Remove the small spring clip on the track of the vent cover
8: Slide the lift arm down to the one end by where the slot is enlarged
9: Remove arm assembly
10: Bend one tab on the old vent cover hinge on the exterior
11: Slide old vent cover out and replace

Reverse directions for reassembly.

Update:

I was able to install new Ventline covers without having to disassemble the vents by opening the cover all the way and gently pulling the cover up off the guide arm. The instructions, although a bit vague, came with the covers.

I also got to reinstall one of my MaxAir vents because the jokers I paid to do it the first time did not do a good job. One of them came almost all the way off while traveling out West. Had to drop the camper, pull the truck along side in order to get on the roof to remove it before it came all the way off.....
