Unique Campers on Route 66

Cindy and I have made it into Arizona and have been following along Route 66 for the past few days. Originally we hadnt planned on it, but a few different places we wanted to see all were along the Mother Road, so we just figured we'd stop at most of the old road side attractions of days gone by.

You should know by now that I love the older campers, anything really but especially the ones that are very unique and out of the ordinary. In Holbrook we spotted this Bugaroo.

Imagine a Class C on a VW Chassis.

If we werent traveling full time and we had a home base, I would have bought this on the spot just to restore and have as a one of a kind conversation piece.

Then in Jackrabbit Gas Station, another famous roadside attraction on Route 66, we spotted this Travette. It's a Toyota Chassis, but has dual axles?!? Another unique Class C that I had never seen, but thought how cool it would be to pull into a campground with this restored.

I hope no one minds me posting these on here, since they have nothing to do with Sunline, I just thought everyone would be interested in seeing some uniqe campers.

Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving Holiday!!

Pat & Cindy

Steve's brother restores VW Bugs. If no one else appreciates that shot he will surely enjoy it! I passed it on to him.

Cindy and I sat looking inside of it and joked how we could fix it up with the latest technological marvels like the Que's have, yet it still would look so unique on the outside.

Thanks for the Wishes Hutch, hope all is well

Pat & Cindy,

Thanks for posting the pics. Isn't RT 66 just wonderful to see. I have traveled it from right outside of St. Louis, Mo to Barstow, CA. OH, "IF" you plan on a trip to Oatman, DO NOT tow the Sunline, very very twisty windy road, and Oatman is a neat old mining town, BUT very limited parking, and ya gotta dodge the cute little burros. They roam the streets, wooden walkways, and often try to do a little shopping in the stores. There is also a daily gun fight on main street. Most of the old buildings now house some type of store, but it's still a neat place to visit. I always stayed in Kingman and made a day trip of Oatman.

WOW, I'd love to be following right behind you, such good times following that route.

Take care,
Kitty

Thanks for the info Kitty. We really wanted to go up towards Oatman, but the forecast was calling for cold weather, so we opted to head South and figured we would make our way back up that way when the weather was a little more predicable.

Wish you were on our tail to share in the adventure.

Pat
