Switch out Lounge for Converta Sofa?

Hi,

We're "Newbie"s"...our 1st post.

Just bought a 1993 Sunline Saturn M# 2160. It has the "Lounge" in the front of the camper.( Not very comfortable for us.) We would like to switch it out for the "Converta Bed Sofa"unit.

Can that be done?(We plan on removing the Dinette booth and table as well.) Where can we locate one? How expensive are they?

Has anyone removed the "Lounge" and replaced it with a "Futon" or other small couch?

With Sunline out of business, where can we get parts for the camper?

Thanks,

Tom & Lynn

Tom & Lynn,

First, welcome to SunlineClub! Lots of helpful folks around here.

There are very few "Sunline specific" parts in our Sunlines. Refrigerators, stoves, toilets, sinks, faucets, plumbing, pumps, water lines, dump valves, convertors, radios, lights, axles, propane gas fittings, and a lot more are all RV industry standard items. In most cases, you can get replacement items or parts from any good RV dealer.

A lot of us who are "handy" have also learned that many high-priced RV items in the electrical and plumbing categories are available at hardware stores and big boxes (like lowes or Home Depot) at much more reasonable prices.

Also, a lot of the 12vdc items are standard automotive/trucking items and can be purchased at substantial savings at your local auto parts store. I never buy light bulbs at the RV dealer. Same for wire and fuses, electrical connectors, and more. (Some electrical stuff is more likely to be found at hardware stores/big boxes if they are 110vac items.)

All of the exterior windows and doors and such are also RV industry standard items with very few exceptions.

The "stickies" at the top of several of these forums also contain info about sources for various items.

That converta bed sofa you are asking about is a standard FlexSteel product (comes in several different lengths so you'll jhave to measure) and can be ordered from any RV dealer who has a decent parts/repair department.
