Sunline has closed it's plant in PA + is out of business

What are we to do? does anyone have any info. I called there today because I have a problem with my slide room and the voice mail said we have closed our operation. I then contacted the dealer I purchased from only to find out they have gone out of business

Rooty

Our Sunline forum is growing each day and the knowledge base we have grows with it each day.

Post some details of what camper and year, what conditions existed and the problem as you found them.

I'm sure another fellow Sunline'er will chime in to help.

My T2499 does not have a slide so I cannot help on your slide leak. But I can on most other things.

Thanks

John

Rooty.....

If you'll identify your location (i.e., city/state), perhaps one of us can suggest another "former" Sunline dealer near to you who would probably be able to solve your problem.

slide room help

Hello everyone,

We have a 286 SR 2006. The problem with the slide is. We were traveling in very rainy conditions. When we set up at our site, we noticed the carpet area in front of the futon was very wet. The carpet is the area that stays stationary when the slide moved in. It was wet about 1/2 way from left of the futon to the beginning of the dinette. The walls were not wet, it was not wet under the futon or on the second piece of carpet directly in front of the futon.

I have since notice air comming in on the left side of the futon at the top of the molding about 1/4 of the length. I ran my hand down the molding and have found from the microwave down 3/4 of the way the molding is pretty flush. then a gap begins and I can feel air comming in and I can feel a rubber seal.

Unfortunately we are on a road trip heading for Mission Texas. We will be there a month.

I guess our warranty is no good, now that the plant has closed.

I called the slide manufacturer, they said they supply parts we pay all labor.

Anyone ever have this problem? I am hoping just an adjustment is necessary.

Diane

something for you to check rooty, when the slide is in look up underneath the slide there should be a piece of aluminum angle screwed to the underside of the slide, with the slide in make sure that it is against the seal the whole length,if not that may be your problem I know mine had a gap of about an inch (yeah an inch)so I added a piece of weather stripping to fill the gap now it seals the whole length.

I heard today that Sunline will reopen in about a week for parts and warranty work. Might just be an unfounded rumor, but if true it might help you with your problem.

We stopped at Camper's Barn today. The dealer told us that the deal with Lance fell through and hadn't herd anything about a possible deal with Layton.
Meanwhile, they have a good selection of 2006 and 2007 Sunline's on the site. Dealer says he'll take on the Sunline Warranty not covered by supplier warranty. But, can't recall if he said 1 yr or 2 yr. Need to follow up.
We're seriously looking at a New 2006 286SR upgrade from our T-2653, but pricing has to improve. And, it's a 75 mile drive to them from our home.

Chilipepper - is tht the Camper Barn in Kingston?

When we went looking they sure did not want to deal price but that was before Sunline went out of business!

Yes, they're in Kingston. If they were talking a 2007, we might have made a deal, but what they quoted for a 2006 (including my trade) didn't look as good as we had hoped.
Though we'd like a Sunline with a slide, we're not desperate. Our quest goes on. We're going back to Imperial tomorrow as he bettered his quote on a 299SR

I don't think this is a good sign....the link to the Sunline website has been removed from the Stoltzfus website FYI Stoltzfus is the dealer that's a couple miles from the factory.

I pick up our new sunline from Campers Barn on Saturday. We looked at a lot of dealers and nobody even cam close to their price. I have noticed that Campers Barn website isn't advertising sale prices on sunlines anymore. Maybe they realized people would still pay more for a sunline.

To Sunline Fan

I never saw the letter, we are snowbirding in Texas and only found out a few weeks ago they closed when we tried to call them with our slide room problem.

If you have a tele# I would love the call the attorney.

Thanks

Took me a while to dig up the article but here's the last sentence.

The letter was signed by attorney Giannascoli. His phone number is listed as (610) 321-5500 and his e-mail address is adgiannascoli@sianalaw.com.

And the link to the forum where I found it....

Won't open for me either.

Aside, my concerns over Sunline viability (warranty issues, declining value, etc., finding the right unit (can't order ) are forcing us to look on the dark side. We've found a Jayco model we really like and are struggling making a decision.

Hi Kathy and Chili,

Since I wrote that late, I forgot to mention that none of the links work. Thats why I tried to write them a message and that wouldn't work either.

Chili, I know four people who have Jayco's, two of which are on their second. From what I can tell, they seem to hold up really well in all applications, like Sunline's do. One friend goes hunting with us and has taken it about five miles into state forest on fire trails (this is in a 31' Class C). Sure its taken some abuse, but not much more than a few clearance light lenses (in some cases the whole light) and the wind sensor for the awning. The three others park their 5ths all summer and use it like a cottage, which it also holds up really well for. I am pretty sure customer service is really good (of course not as good as Sunline), but I've never had to contact them for anything. Good luck in making your decision (GO SUNLINE!!!!).

Jon
