Starbucks makes an instant coffee that rivals fresh-brewed. I use it when camping solo.

This has been a fun thread. I love all the creative ways campers use to get their coffee fix. I really did not expect to see so many dedicated coffee drinkers in our group!

Tweety reminded me of another method, FOLGERS and MAXWELL HOUSE both make coffee bags (think tea bag) that are available at the grocery store. My late mother-in-law used these when she camped with us, 'cause she was the only one that drank coffee!! She loved them.

He still has the percolator one and uses it on occasion when they need to make the whole hunting camp coffee. The Coleman one did have a little part break inside or something two years ago I think, but they replaced it and it still works well now. This way they don't have to start the generator, and it's a little easier to set up/make more when needed.

Deb,

I found these,

https://shoponline.melitta.com/product/627402/FILTPAPER

Bought a pack a few years ago and they are still plenty left. We are camping this weekend, I will try to take a pic. It starts out sort of square with 4 holes in it on the corners (1 each corner) and 1 in the middle. The middle one goes over the pipe stem, then put coffee in. Then fold each corner over and hook the hole over the pipe. Do all 4 corners.

It works good.

The filters Tweety posted look like they work like my backpacking strainer. Just a lot cheaper. It does work good, just my filter you have to wash it up.

Yes this has been a fun thread. A lot of good responses and the 1st coffee post I think we have had.

I have tried all of them and settled on the french press to me it can't be simpler one moving part and no filters. The Coleman things work but they are slow and have a tendency to burn up (no flames but they melt) old style percolators are OK but too many parts and they are slow. Can you tell I don't function well with out a coffee fix. Most big markets have grinders so I usually get a pound and that's fine for a week and if there is some left over I mix it up with the house coffee.

French Press

We just use regular Folgers in our French Press--works fine......although someday I may make the effort to grind my own before we leave (dreamin'....!) Keeping it warm IS an issue.

The percolator arrived just as we were heading out on a weekend trip to Lake George. So, we washed it well and made a pot the first morning. Slow, needed to be stronger so next time we'll use more coffee. We used a Mr. Coffee filter, with a hole and folded over. It was really fine. Next morning the Mr. Coffee came out as we had full hook-up. That sure is faster. But... I think the percolator will do.

Will report on meeting a SOC member and another interesting Sunline story when time permits!

I too love the french press for my coffee. And thanks folks, these suggestions are all really good for getting fresh water in the trailer. Now I know why the previous owners had a tranny funnel handy.

Ok, probably a stupid question, but I'm learning everyday what I DON"T know. Can anyone explain the difference between these two water inlets on my 1850? Appreciate it.

The top photo is the inlet to fill your on board water tank. You take off the cap and pour the water in, either from a hose or a can. You'll probably need a funnel. Your on board water pump needs to be on when using the tank.

The bottom photo is your "city" water connection where you'd attach a "white" potable water hose from the campground (or your house) water supply to the trailer. You don't need your water pump when hooked up this way (pressure from hose supplies the water) BTW-You don't want to use a regular green garden hose, the water picks up a nasty flavor.

Three important things when hooking up direct:

1. Use a white potable water hose.
2. Use a pressure regulator.
3. Flush out the connection before hooking up. Bugs love the water pipe!!

As I was told, there are no stupid questions here. I asked this same thing on this thread - http://www.sunlineclub.com/forums/f7...ump-13281.html

The first appears to be your freshwater inlet. That goes to your freshwater tank. You use you own water that you put in the tank. The bottom one is the "city connection" where you hook up to the campground water with a white hose used for fresh water. John and others explain it well in the above thread. As well as some other good info !

Yup, and yours is missing the little dust cap on it. It's not too critical, but at least it helps keep your fresh water system a little more sanitary.
