Spoiled Rotten Sunline !

Well, if this 2499 isn't one spoiled rotten Sunline. I was having the driveway black-topped today, and asked how much to do where Sunny parks. Well, Sunny will now be parked on a blacktop pad (with a vapor barrier between the tires and blacktop). I am also waiting for a return call to order the RV Port. So, is he one spoiled rotten Sunny or what . OH, yes Sunny is a he :P that way "if/when" something goes wrong I have a "him " to blame it on.

Sunny a "Him"

Well now that just figures. A woman always needs a guy to blame. Like they would never make a mistake. On the serious side I don't blame you one bit for taking good care of the "guy". It will pay off big time down the road. We are thinking of buying a TT and the only one we want is the 2553 sunline. Have not seen one yet . The popup we have is a 1977 and it looks as good as it does because the first owner, we bought it in 89, took very good care of it.
Enjoy you 2499, seems like a very popular unit.

Yes I agree, my T2499 get's a lot of attention too...

Have not figured out yet who is spoiled more, The T2499 or me, or both

Your vapor barrior, a tip I picked up from a fellow RV'er was to back up onto a shingle.

What do you use?

Thanks

John

PS In my case the T2499 is a she. And I take good care of "her"

Hi John,
thanks for the tip about using a shingle as a vapor barrier. While I was parking on "dirt" , I used a 2x12. I can put Sunny on the blacktop tomorrow, but might not as monday taking him to my mechanic (wheel bearing maintenqnce), leaving in 18 days for Pigeon Forge, TN . That will give me some time to round up some shingles for "tire pads". Hum, does that make them "Slippers?"

Welcome to the group, glad you joined.

I have seen your posts in RV.Net, your the only person that I have seen with the quarda-steer. And, I understand your Sunny being a "her", and your need to treat her very well. Actually, I guess we all treat our "Sunnys' very very well.

Kitty

Kitty and John,
I also park on blacktop. Do you REALLY subscribe to the vapor barrier notion for your winter tire care? I'm just considering all the years we parked our last RV on the same surface with nothing in between at all. I do understand that TT tires are subject to many different use stresses that my M/H was not, and we need to give them some extra care perhaps. I do need to put a one inch shim under one side to get it level, but the other side was going directly on the blacktop. Now I'm wondering?

John I'm quite pleased to see you've joined up here. Your a most knowledgeable and personable addition to this growing site.

First off thanks for the kind words. And I might add it was your RV net sig that pointed me here.... As I did not know we have this site yet. Been wanting one and now I see we have it.

On the shingle or "slippers" like Kitty calls them, this is tip I picked up from a fellow camper. I'll have to research it more, but I do believe it has to do with the wet wicking up the tire and over time can reduce over all tire life.

Since I'm sort of super protected on my T2499, I go the extra mile on keeping here in tip top shape.

As a side note, I have had many a farm tire split and crack from sitting outside in the dirt all winter long. That is sort of the opposite extreme as on concrete but helps add some level of credence to the theory.

When I find out more on the chemical reaction going on, I'll post back.

Thanks

John
