SOC clock/daylight saving time

Just a quick FYI.

The clock on this site does not currently change automatically for DST.

You can go into your profile and click the drop down for time. For Eastern time , it needs to be set on "GMT - 4."

I have not found any place in the site that shows the current time.

What it does do is make the time you see on the posts to be correct for "now." For instance, I am posting this at 7:39 PM Eastern DST. If you have not adjusted your Eastern GMT to be -4, you'll see 6:39 PM on your screen at the post header. Those in other time zones may see varying results. Change the GMT -5 to GMT -4 and you see the correct time of the post in relation to when you read it, at least for folks in the Eastern Time Zone.

When I worked communications in the US Army, we used GMT -0 no matter where we were located in the world. That way all messages, log entries, whatever were all on matching time at all times. Every military comm center I ever saw always had two clocks: Local & GMT.

There is a spot...between the beginning of all the forum listings on the main page, below the Google ads. When not logged it, it just shows the current time. When you are logged in, it shows the current time and the time of your last visit. Keep in mind this clock is only information and not an actual running clock. You'd need to refresh it to get the current time.
