Satellite tv

Ok guys, another dumb question. We just bought a portable satellite system. I assume it cannot be attached to the cable tv prewired spot. So I thought I could leave the small basement door unlocked (T2363) and run the wire through there. This would put it under the sofa and right up to the tv. Any thoughts or suggestions? Any tricks on setting up the dish?? As always, thanks in advance for your help.

Deb, these are very good questions to be asking now, rather than in the middle of a camping week...

First, you are correct about not connecting your satellite system to the regular cable tv prewire. There is circuitry in that system that will interfere with your satellite signal.

Second, I would be very leery of leaving a compartment door open to run that wire into your rig. That creates a highway for critters of all kinds. I would recommend that you run it in along side your power cable and snake it from that compartment to your tv.

Or, if you are willing, pick up the inside and outside connectors at your RV dealer or any electronics store that carries CATV parts, and permanently install the wiring for this.

Rather than me trying to describe all this, Mark Nemeth has written a very detailed article on this exact subject, including tuning tips. You can read the whole thing at: http://www.ccis.com/home/mnemeth/sat.htm

Good luck!

Deb - if you wanted to make it a permanent inside connection go to this link:

http://www.rv.net/cforum/index.cfm/f...0.cfm#19808020

This is something on our to-do list - which I don't think will ever get done!

We have a TV in the TT but seldom set it up, the last time I remember using it was a year ago on a rainy day with 14 y/o GS with us!

Hope the link helps in your "installation" process!

Thanks to everyone! We can't wait to go to the lake and try this out. I'll let you know how it goes.
