RV Show Reports

We'll be going to the RV Show in Reading, PA that starts a week from today, so....
For those of you who have been to one of the winter RV Shows, I'd like to hear your impressions. There are a few on the other RV show thread, but mostly everyone has just said which shows they'll be attending. Is there anything new and funky out there? Was anyone impressed with anything at all? For example, on the other thread Mark from Pittsburgh wrote,

"Features and new things that I noticed, and liked, where:

-the new V-front end trailers (not a square box) with a cool layouts within the V.

-the use of U-shaped dinettes built on the long side of the trailer (instead of the front). Unlike "regular" dinettes, these things can sleep adults (length and width appropriate).

-One really cool Class C with a "party/tailgate design". A large bar (with with floor-mounted stools). And a HUGE curved couch (and curved table) that could hold at least six people sitting"

We won't be buying. We love the Tweety It's just fun to see what other people thought was cool ahead of time, so when we're walking around we can take notice of things we might not notice otherwise.
COME ON SPRING !!!

Hey Pam,

Ya know the Tweety has to STAY !!! How else would I know when we pass each other on the interstate .

The V-shaped trailers. I think first introduced a couple years ago by Keystone as the VR-1. The "fit n finish" sure isn't Sunline. Interesting floor plans, but the "V" nose is decieving when it comes to storge. If you get a chance to see the front bedroom model, you'll see what I mean. Now, I did like the front kitchen model, but it's built for " 1 ".

Trailer sits very high off the ground, and my fat butt and bad back didn't like that

I've seen a couple of the "larger "U" shaped dinettes and WOW are they nice.

And you WILL NEED a stout truck, as they all have a lot of tongue weight.

I still look, but nothing else is anywhere near as good as our Sunlines. When it becomes "just me & KD" I have a few alterations in mind for ole Sunny.

Have a great time at the show. I haven't been to one in years, becasue mom can't do the walking.

Kitty

Lori liked the larger U shaped dinette we saw in several TT's, but overall we were pretty disappointed. There just wasn't anything really new or different

The MA shows so far have seemingly moved a bunch of Class As; and some smaller ones.

Unfortunately, due to the cost of fuel, a lot of folks seem to want SMALL campers, or drivers- as their daily driven vehicles are powered by hamsters in the wheels

I was VERY pleasantly surprised by the K-Z Spree (and other K-Zs)

http://www.kz-rv.com/

I was told they are another Mennonite company, fit and finish seemed really good, no odors to my very sensitive lungs and nose (a lot of the others I couldn't even go into- the stench was unbearable)

and the Adirondack trailers....they were quite nice as well.

I saw these at the Gillette Stadium show- at the Boston show the only thing that really grabbed my eyes were the "v" front trailers- should give a good aero advantage (much like the bow of a v-hull boat instead of a Jon-boat)- the mfg. and dealer claim 2-3 mpg savings over conventional... DOUBT IT! (at least in my case- my Truck gets 13.5 no trailer, 10 or so with trailer....)

A lot of the rest were the same old, same old. One neat idea I saw was a little extra rain lip over the top of the entry door- I may use this idea, as I tend to go in and out a lot when working inside- and when not camping, the awning's not out.

We saw the V shapes at the Hershey show this september, prior to buying Tweety. It does seem a great use of space, but as Kitty points out the tongue weights are high. The other issue with the tongue being enclosed is that you lose the ability to put a bicycle rack in front, and a kayak or canoe that hangs over the back of the truck could be a clearance issue.

...and there's one this weekend in Springfield, MA at the Eastern States Exposition at the Better Living Center building

My favorite local RV shop will be there with a few trailers in tow

I was over there today playing with our coach and stopped in the office to say hi. They said they actually sold several trailers by the EOD Sunday, plus a lot of folks were hitting their lot after the show (as it's only 5 minutes down the road).

We went to the RV show in Reading today, and all I can say is what a disappointment. The show was smaller than last year with nothing innovative at all. As for the TTs, nothing even comes close to the quality of our Sunlines Sure, if you want a fiver like an Excell or Cameo THOSE are nice...and have a price to match. If you want a nice Fleetwood Bounder diesel pusher, THOSE are nice. But in the travel trailer line up there was just nothing. Now I love the Tweety even more

Your timing is right. We were leaving just after 1:00. But I had on a light tan jacket and pink turtle neck and was carrying my QUE bag. Steve had on a burnt orange down vest with a blue plaid flannel under it. The QUE bag would have been the dead giveaway. And all the dealers who used to sell Sunline noticed it and had the same reaction...."Sunline made such a nice trailer. It's too bad what happened to them."

I've never been to an outdoor show at the Reading Expo Center. When was it? We felt like the closest thing to Sunline quality that we saw in a travel trailer was the Jayco Jay Flight G2. The closest thing to the QUE was a cute little motor home, the Winnebago Navion. I believe one of our former QUE owners traded up to one of them, and now I understand why...very similar feel.
