Questions About 1999 Solaris T2453

Earlier today I posted a Newcomer message and am delighted at the welcome I received. Also, encouragement to feel free to ask questions of you "seasoned RV pros". If you can provide information on any or all of the questions posted I will greatly appreciate it.

1. T2453: What type brake system does the RV trailer have/use?

2. Does the braking system require install of a "break activator" in the cabin of my Dodge 1500 P/up?

3. I do have an installed hitch receiver with 4 prong connector. However, the trailer has a Bargman 67 connect wired in to it. I have seen some of the connectors online, but am now sure which one is best or will do the job.

4. Does the loop wire that I believe is an emergency "pin puller" in the event of an unexpected disconnect always have to be fastened to the vehicle connection point?

5. I saw a video today that mentioned making an X configuration when hooking up the safety chains. Is this a common, and wise step to take?

6. What has been anyone's experience with using DiCor cleaner and protectorant for the exterior rubber roof?

I know this is a lot, but I want to learn as much about my RV trailer so I can use it, keep it in good shape, and of course stay safe. Thanks in advance for any pearls of wisdom
Best Regards,
Grayson

Not sure the correct name but it's magnetic actuated

2. Does the braking system require install of a "break activator" in the cabin of my Dodge 1500 P/up?

Yes. Something like a Prodigy P2 or P3

3. I do have an installed hitch receiver with 4 prong connector. However, the trailer has a Bargman 67 connect wired in to it. I have seen some of the connectors online, but am now sure which one is best or will do the job.

Get the 6 or 7 prong. You'll need one for the brakes and one for the charging system. The 7th is for backup lites.

4. Does the loop wire that I believe is an emergency "pin puller" in the event of an unexpected disconnect always have to be fastened to the vehicle connection point?

Yes, In cace of breakaway the pin is pulled. It will apply the TT breaks

5. I saw a video today that mentioned making an X configuration when hooking up the safety chains. Is this a common, and wise step to take?

Very much so

6. What has been anyone's experience with using DiCor cleaner and protectorant for the exterior rubber roof?

I haven't used it but I've used Dicor Sealents on the roof. Great product

Keep the roof checked and if you see any cracks in the sealent re caulk

Jim 44646,
Thanks so much for the information. Another question occurred to me. I have a Sears twelve volt battery charger. Is it OK to connect it straight to the battery in place? Or, does it have to be disconnected from the RV to put a charge on it?
Regards,
Grayson

it's ok. If deep cycle battery slow or trickle charge. One of the wires on a 6-7 prong plug is also a charge wire so the battery charges while driving.

Hi Jim,
Once again, thanks for the information. As I live in the South with a good bit of sun, I am thinking about putting a solar trickle charger on the battery after I give it a good boost with my plug in to the wall charger.
regards,
Grayson

Hi Grayson, Welcome.

I can't add much to the good answers already given by Jim.

Your Sunline should have a converter that will charge the battery when you are plugged into "shore power". (Converters make 12 volts DC from 110 volts AC) The converter doesn't provide a lot of current so if you have a almost dead battery then you can just clip a charger to the battery without disconnecting it from the trailer.
