Our "New" 1992 Solaris

A few weeks ago I posted about the graphics I was working on for my 1992 Solaris. I wanted to give it an up-to-date look, so together with the 2007 logos and a little creative taping and masking, it's finally ready for pictures. here's one:

The picture above is kind of small and I'm not yet sure how to enlarge it, so her's the Photobucket site:

Thanks,
Rich

Rick,

Wow! Fantastic job - looks great.

Did you paint the graphics or are they tape?

Hey Jon, thanks for the post! I love the comparison, you're the man!
PT, I painted the stripes only b/c I could not find anyone who had the roll striping. Someone out there does, however, b/c I'm told by folks who were at the auction that someone bought up all the graphics. Apparently they are not selling on Ebay as I had hoped. Even with the corrugations in the siding, I think applying roll striping would've been easier than painting. I went through many rolls of masking tape and spent many tedious hours masking it in such a way as to get close to the Sunline stripe arrangement. Color matching that tan color was a real PIA too, I know I didn't get it exact, but pretty close. I expect to see a few Sunlines this week as we are heading out to Frontier Town in Ocean City in about an hour! Yeah, Vacation!
Rich
P.S. Got a new camera, I'll post more pics when I get back.

Thanks Pat, I guess I'll never be able to call it "vintage"

Rich:

Beautiful job! You are quite talented: There aren't too many people who could pull off such a fine face lift.

I think you may have a new career ahead of you. As our trailers get too old to get into some of the snobby RV resorts (with 10 years or newer restrictions), your new business could be to update the look of our trailers to "fake them out." Otherwise, we'll just have to hang out with a better class of people wherever they allow "vintage" coaches. The last time I went to Williamsburg, I had to lie about the model year of my T-2051.

Thanks Al, as a business though, I'd probably go broke with the first job. I can't tell you how time consuming that job was. But, when I gety a bug in my head, I have to see it through and I really did enjoy the process. Funny you should mention Williamsburg, since we will be camping there (don't remember the campground name) in a little more than a week. I've never camped anyplace where they were concerned about the age of your camper, but I have heard mention of the age rule before. Last week, we were in Ocean City MD (Frontier Town) and we counted 24 Sunlines from the 80's to present. I think that is the largest number of Sunlines I've ever seen in any one location! Might be a good thread to start:Count up all the Sunlines you see in the campgrounds you stay in. Anyway, it will be interesting to see what the situation is in Williamsburg.
Oh BTW, I should've included this one:
The day I picked up our trailer

Rich:

We stayed at the KOA Williamsburg campgrounds. There are actually two KOA campgrounds within 1/2 mile of each other. We preferred the "Colonial Section" over the "Williamsburg Section." It sits on top of the hill in a heavily wooded section and shade is a good thing in August in Williamsburg! However, Colonial KOA is the campground that asked the year of our trailer.

Rich,

I remember seeing the pictures of you gutting the inside. Man, you did a heck of a job on the trailer. You have to be very proud of your accomplishment. Excellent job.

When we went to Williamsburg (many years ago) we stayed at Fair Oaks Family Campground. I think it’s called Williamsburg Pottery Campground. It wasn’t a 5-star campground, but the price was a lot cheaper the most other places.

Enjoy Williamsburg; it’s a fun place to visit. If they still offer them, take one of the evening tours, they’re a lot of fun.
