My new hitch is GREAT!

I received my new hitch yesterday and set it up...all I can say is what a difference! I followed the instructions and used John's tips and low and behold when I hooked up it was almost perfect. I now have about 1 1/2 drop on the rear of the truck and 1 inch of rise on the front...that is much much better than before and now the truck and camper are almost level when hooked. Thanks to clueless campers for advising me to invest in the weight distributing hitch and to John for his installation tips
I also invested in the friction sway control bar...I will be doing some highway cruising this weekend and am anxious to see how that performs. I have to say...this site is a great place for us newbies

Thanks John...I do have a question...Since I bought this used and know very little about required maintenence on the axles can somebody help me out. Do they require any regular maintenece such as greasing?
Also the wheel bearings...My Sunline is a 1996 and I have no idea how many miles it has been pulled. Should the bearings be re-packed?

Yes, for sure need to repack the bearings and check the brakes. You really do not know what shape they are in. Once you have them done or do them yourself then you know where you stand.

See here for some posts that show how to do this with pictures.

5. Repairing brakes and wheel bearings on your Sunline

There is a lot of info there. Do you know if you have Dexter or Alko axles/brakes?

See here for Dexter and Alko service manuals that tell you how to do tihs as well. Look here for the "Service Manual"

Need any more help, ask away.

Good luck
