Model Years?

Are travel trailers like cars in that the new 2007 models come out before the end of 2006 or even early in 2006? How does this work in the RV market? I've been on many RV dealership lots and some seem to have the 2007 models out and some don't. Can I expect a bigger discount it I buy a 2006 model now? Thanks for any help on this. I am looking to buy a new or used Sunline before camping season next year. So glad I found this site.

I too was curious about this, and thought perhaps of waiting for the 2008 models to come out. I sent email to Larue at Sunline and asked when the 2008 model year would start and this is her reply...We have only just started the 2007 model year in May of this year. I don't know when 2008 will start. It is usually in late spring to early summer. So that's how Sunline does it. I won't say the rest of the mfgs follow this pattern, but I was only interested in Sunline. Before we ordered our 2007 we did talk about the left over 2005 and 2006 model some dealers had shown us. If we could have found one with the options we wanted then I bet we would have made a deal. They want to move these leftover units. They will bargain with you.

to answer your question trailers usally start to switch over to start to build the next model year at the end of may begining of june. the reason I know this is when my wife and I went to order of first 02 sunline it was easter weekend we were suppose to be ordering a 01 and the dealer called us back the next day and said that sunline had just started to build the 02 models . this worked out to our advantage. they gave us the 02 for the 01 price because they didnt notify the dealer of the change yet . I hope this help you out and good luck finding the right sunline for you and your family
