Merry Christmas everyone!

I'm trying to talk Kitty into going camping at Shenandoah River SP next weekend... We'd probably have to do Sat-Mon, but I think it's do-able...

To All

I hope everyone had wonderful Christmas and to all a blessed New Year.
Barb and I had almost the entire family over yesterday. It was a very nice family time.

Wright and Penny, I didn't know that park was even open for camping in the winter. Sounds like a a great way to hark in the New Year.

Good Holidays and Good Times to all. Went to look at my camper last Friday at storage. It's doing okay, just a bit lonely.......It wants to come out and play!

Ah, the doctrine of unintended consequences. Nearby Front Royal upgraded its sewer system and the park was tied in. Then they discovered (in the manner in which most gov. agencies discover things) that if the effluent from the campground bathouses and dump station ceases, it jeopardizes the operation of the town's treatment plant. Ergo: Shenandoah River SP's campground is the only one open year 'round. Sweet!!
They do tell you that in case of freezing weather, water service will be discontinued (with no conmensurate reduction in fee) at your site, but in winter, electric is all you need. (Bathouses, toilets and showers will still be available per "discovery" mentioned above.)
I'll try to remember to take pics (before the egg nog sets in).
We hope Kitty and Gary can join us and anyone else who's close enough to hop in.

What's funny about all this is that I live in Warrenton VA less than an hour away and my daughter lives in Front Royal. We have only been to the park once and that was before the camp ground was opened. I'll try and stop by on New Years day. Camping in anything below about 60 degrees is a definite no for my better half.

We will plan on a trip to the park in the spring.

You know how to find me. A Sunny and a Tundra.
We'll try to be in a lower loop to avoid the wind. I've never been there - just looked at a map. I'll sacrifice a view to get out of the wind.

Wish we could come...It's just a little far and alot too cold We heard they'll even let campers who aren't staying there dump their tanks for no fee because the sewer treatment plant needs more "stuff " to work on

Correction! I misunderstood what the ranger at the RV show last year told me. The waste-water treatment plant is in the park itself. When it was installed, they knew it had to operate year 'round.
Outcome is the same - park is open. However, they do ask that you fill your onboard tank on arrival and not hook up to the water spigot during possible freezing temps.
