measurement needed...

Hi All,... Due to DH's surgery, we are now looking at trading our 2653 for a 2753 to obtain the walk around queen bed (both are 1998's).This would take place while travelling south next week for the winter so we have to be prepared for some big changes in storage..we love our big wardrobe and have a shelving unit in it that hopefully would transfer to the shower in the 'new' one..most of our clothing is foldables..can someone give me the measurements (inside ones) of their shower (not with a sitdown tub like we have now)so I can see if this unit will fit inside. I am quite sure a 2553 would have the same--as they are mostly standard. Also, I would appreciate the inside measurement on the wardrobes on the sides of the queen bed..I could take necessary items for putting shelving there if needed instead of doing the shower thing, and then put hanging stuff in the shower..
Pam...can you tell me if the cupboards over the front window are deep enough and high enough to hold anything...maybe canned foods? I know the roof slants back there...I am trying to plan ahead to make the transition as smooth as possible..
Right now we are haggling price with the salesman by phone--have only seen pics--since we are "trading" year for year, I feel we need to make a favorable deal and he is of course, wanting to make some money..These are both older units, so it's hard to judge just what is "fair"..opinions? Thanks to all who answer...Janalee (P.S.) we ARE putting the sofa back in in case you are wondering!!)

Jan,

Is this the coach you're looking at?

Yes it is

Joon..Yes...thats the one we are going to look at...what do you thinnk would be a fair $$$$ trade since we dont need/want a warranty other than the usual "make sure it is safe and works" type...
Also, did you look at the pics? Looks to be in nice shape--they only had two patterns of upholstery that year--ours (black cherry) and that Tropical forest green--I DON'T like the Black Cherry!! (Sry--I know that is yours too) so it limits my search....Jan

Our pick up is at 1:00, so it'll probably be late afternoon before I can post the measurements. Ours is a 2006, so things might be slightly different. I already see that the hole for the TV set appears larger than the opening in ours.

Jan,

It does look in good shape, but I'd check out around the windows. Most of them look open, so there may be a smell in there or it could have water damage from water coming in by the windows. Hopefully they were just open for the pics.

I would only estimate a difference in value of ~$100. I wouldn't give them any more than $2000 for the trade.

Thanks for the answers Pam and Jon...after giving it a LOT of thought (and sleepless nights), I think we are going to keep our 2653...at least until we come back from Fl...and we will leave the "daybed" there for DH to sleep on for this trip. We have it all packed and it would be such a big job to change over...Also, we know what we have and everything is in excellent working order...
So Pam,guess I won't need those measurements--when you pick your new one up, tell him Jan from 'near Scranton' said hello! Maybe he will get something in for me in the Spring....I hate to pass on this but something is telling me to wait.....Jan

Hi Jan,
Got home with the new HUGE Sunline and already did the measuring, so I'm going to pass those along to you - just in case someone needs them.
TV opening is 16" square
front cabinets are 12" deep, and tapers back to 5" high after 8" of depth.
Wardrobes are 23" deep x 41" high x 14" wide
shower is about 21x31 inside, but you know how various lumps protrude into the shower.
Stoltzfus (Adamstown) did a fabulous job cleaning up this trailer. It's like new. We are really impressed. They cleaned & sealed the roof, shampooed the carpets....again just a very professional job.

Thanks Pam for the info...and so happy to hear how great your "pick up" went..they are nice folks down there. We will be waiting to see the pics....By the way--wait till you see how fast that HUGE trailer shrinks..lol..they ALL do!
I just wish the timing had been different for us on the deal we were working on..too old now to move too fast... however, who knows what will happen in the week to come! Jan

You know Jan, now that I know the TT your looking at is in PA, should you decide to get it, it really wouldn't be that far of a drive to take the couch back down. They might even be willing to send a truck up to pick it up. I wouldn't let the couch issue spoil the deal.

Well Jon...we are only $250.00 apart on price neg.--I have never seen a 2753 but feel I know what the pros and cons are against my 2653...DH does NOT like a walkthru bath...I do..we NEED a queen walk around bed..NO counter space in the 2753..He is willing to compromise on the BR issue...I hate giving up my wardrobe for two shirt closets (that I already have in mine) but I am willing to compromise also.I really like the front of the 2753 and all the windows. It looks roomier but is it really? We feel this will probably be our last long trip..so that brings me to, should I or shouldn't I? I am a compulsive camper buyer and I admit it ..have had 17 to date..never found a perfect one...don't think they make one!!!
Now to driving down there...I hear ya and appreciate it but...gas IS high..and I am 66...and I will be going there next week anyway to visit our daughter on our way south...so I am feeling I will leave it to chance and see it if it is still there. We will put the sofa back in Sat. and be ready and if the dealer won't/can't come to terms, there are lots of places to look for the next 3 months down South....Sound like a plan? Any input on 2653 vs 2763,please? DH leaves it all up to me--as I am the happy camper and the driver! Jan

The front of the 2753 is VERY roomy and has lots of BIG windows. I wanted a slide but Steve is anti-slide, so this spacious front was our compromise. Yes, it is as roomy as it looks. The walk through bath is nice because it's so big. The only downside I can see is if someone's in there and you want to switch rooms youll have to go outside and in the other exit door...or wait. Counterspace was my BIG stumbling block to this trailer. My QUE had oodles of counterspace. While talking to a friend who had the setup of the dinette behind the kitchen, she commented that she just used the dinette table to sit things on I agree that losing the large wardrobe would be difficult. We'll put coat hooks on the wall somewhere for coats, and fold lots of things I guess. Thre's also no pantry, but there are tons of upper cabinets. I'm having trouble "nesting" because I feel like things are going to be sliding around in these huge cabinets! In the QUE everything was kind of wedged in place

Pam,

That non-slip material works great for us in the kitchen cabinets.

Really keeps the dishes, cups, etc. from sliding around when traveling. We even use it on the counter top to keep appliances, etc. in place while traveling.

We usually get it a Wal-Mar or Linen's N Things.

Pam...Don't worry-you will soon fill up those cupbpards-we all do! DH feels the same as you about the bathroom 'privacy'- however, I don't see it as a problem. Also,as for the counter space,we had the same floorplan in a Class C and I always used the dinette table too and put the cutting board top on the left sink. I am even thinking we could just set the front table for eating and clean up the dinette table after dinner!!! The '98 has NO counter space--longer sofa instead...74'' vs. the 66" unless they changed that in your '06..the '98 is 27'5" long and I think yours is longer..?
Now for hooks--I can't see anyplace to put them in the bedroom--doesn't seem to be wall space..? Maybe on the back side of the sliding door? DH NEEDS hooks!! lol! And the '98 doesn't have drawers underneath it's bed like you do although it does have all storage..that can be remedied though. And as we used our wardrobe for shelving anyway,I can put shelves in the little ones and hang in the shower--we NEVER use showers in our campers..I think twice out west is all. Looking forward to your next posting! Jan
I am hoping there is storage under those kitchen drawers for pots and pans..as you can see I have really studied pics of the 2753.And already hubby has said if we buy this,we may take the sofa out and put the daybed in--it is so comfy! We'll see...hmmm

I've used the same stuff in all my trailers and it works great. I kept all the pieces from my 2363 and hope to reuse as many as I can in the 270, if I "move in".

Got the shelf liner at Lowes. Got the rediculously expensive rear wheels at Stoltzfus - they are a high priority project. Jan, I have my pots and pans in the big bottom drawer. I have those really cool nesting pots from Camping World. The handles remove so they're easy to store. I also have BIG drawers under the dinette seats that would work for pots and pans. We have 1 foot of counter space between the stove & sink. I got 2 hooks at Lowe's too. I figured with them in hand I'd be forced to find someplace for them...even though I'm also having trouble with that. With the small wardrobes we have to have coat hooks.

Pam...try the tension clothes rod in the shower..should rest on two of those ridgie things and you can hang your coats, etc. there.Thats where I keep my broom, dustpan, jugs of water etc.in all my campers. In my motorhome, I put plastic shelves that were stackable in the two side closets..got them at yard sales..you can put the shelf in and THEN put in the legs..they are usually twelve inches by 18 inches..and with a bit of imagination you can make the legs longer so they are further apart(we used pvc pipe) There is never enough of the "right places"...but I am glad to hear there is a big bottom drawer in the kitchen for the pans and two others under the benches....I also have three and love them...there arent any good pics online of the lower areas. ...By the way, what are you going to use those little cupbpards for at the foot of the bed? I am getting anxious to see a 2753 in person (next Fri.-hopefully it will still be there) Jan

We will probably use the little cupboards in the bedroom for jeans and sweatshirts, which roll nicely. DH can have one cupboard and I'll take one.
We use our shower as a shower, but thanks for the other tips When we took the TV shelf out of the bedroom it left holes. We covered some of those holes with small coat hooks that I found at Lowes. They protrude MUCH less than the folded up TV table did. The other place we found that hooks can go is on the side walls right by the wardrobe doors. The doors won't hit the hooks because they bump the window boxes first. The shelf liner is all cut and in place, and the dishes etc. stowed.

Pam..you told me in one post the wardrobes by the bed are 14" wide..was that inside or outside meas.? I really needed the INSIDE measurement to figure what to take with me for shelving for them...I found some nice white coated wire shelving in our "parts room"...lol! However, if that was the outside measurement, then that means there is only 14" walking space on the sides of the bed?(I know they leave you 'kick room' under the platform edge).....Jan
