Kitty and I had camping plans this weekend..

Kitty had always planned camping trips for the Thanksgiving weekend and this one was no different. Had she not gone downhill so fast, I would probably have gotten the 2653 finished. She was really excited about taking it on our maiden voyage with it, this coming Thanksgiving weekend. In keeping with her plans (Mine, as well.) I am hitching up the fifth wheel and heading to Shenandoah River State Park on Thursday. The 2653 is not done, so the fiver will just have to do..

The day after Kitty passed, I called her cabinet maker friend Bruce and asked him if he would make the urn for Kitty's ashes. He said he would be honored and made it that day. I had not seen it until today and he did an amazing job on it. I am not going to post any pictures of it yet. They will come soon enough.

I know Kitty is now in Heaven and no longer with us, but I still intend to take the ashes with me this weekend. I don't know how it will feel to be camping without her and I may drive all the way there for nothing. I do want to try though.

It may heal the soul to be back in a place that was so special to both of you!

Gary,

Safe travels. The trip will do you good, mixed emotions for sure. It is not for nothing. Kitty will be with you in spirit and if there is a park to bring back good times, that is the place.

Peace be with you and we will be thinking of you as well. We plan on camping Friday to Sunday, sort of a tradition since 2003 when we brought the T2499 home new.

Best of luck to you. Kitty would want you to get out and be at peace.

John and Cindy

Have a good time this weekend, Gary. I'm sure you'll be fine taking the FW out, especially to a place you are familiar with. You won't be there alone, and you'll know that when you go to back up the fifth wheel into the site

Gary, have a safe weekend filled with happy memories.
As you look up at the sky in the evening, here's something to think about

"Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in Heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down to let us know they are with us."

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft star-shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

Thanks everyone for the thoughts, wishes and prayers.. They are MUCH appreciated! My son and mom will be going with me and it's mom's first ever camping trip. Even if they were not going along, I would have tried going by myself.

I am taking the camera along.. I have something to share with everyone...

Gary,

Not only will Kitty be with you, but so will the rest of us. Enjoy your weekend and be safe.

I lived on the other side of the state (Tu Endie Wei) for some 35 years, so it's not like we're complete strangers.

Hang in there!

Have a good weekend Gary and I think that Kitty would probably expect nothing less from you than to be there.
Safe travels.

Gary,

I think you are very brave to continue this tradition loved by you and Kitty.
Anyone who has ever lost someone knows what you are going through but most of all the Lord, our comforter...John 16:22 - And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.

Thank you to everyone!

This weekend was very difficult for me, but I made it through. Pam and Steve (Tweety) were in the site, across the street from us and did a lot to help me get through it. Their son and his new bride had a cabin and she had her family there. They welcomed us in the cabin and blessed us with a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner. Their daughter Lisa was also there and offered the most wonderful Thanksgiving dinner Blessing, I have ever heard.

I had originally thought I would be making this camping trip alone, but my mom and son wanted to go along. Camping them was very different, from camping with Kitty!

It was also difficult to drive by the site, that Kitty and I stayed in, on our trip there in October. That site holds a special place in my heart and has a lot of memories associated with it.

As promised, I have a couple of pictures to share. Bruce Clark has done a lot of custom work for Kitty's various Sunlines and was gracious enough to make the urn for her ashes. I asked him to finish it like the oak cabinets that Kitty loved so much. Here is the finished product:

The pictures do not do it justice though. I plan to have it with me at Buttonwood next year. I know Kitty is not here anymore, but I needed to take it along for me.

EDIT: As you can see in the pictures, Kitty's clutter is also still in Sunny... She always had her "Must haves" with her!

It's beautiful, Gary. Do whatever you need to do for "you". May the Good Lord watch over you and give you strength to get you through.
