Exterior finish
Purchased a Sunline T-2552 about a month ago. As I've been cleaning the exterior I noticed the finish was not as smooth as what my Jayco's was. It is cleaned and waxed but still feels like it's oxidized. Only the white on the panal with the stripes feels smooth. Flat finish? Is this the norm for a Sunline Finish?

Yes, that is normal. It was Sunline's no wax Krystal Coat. ..... but some people wax it anyway.

Yes, the Krystal Kote was designed to be more durable than regular painted aluminum. It's less likely to dent or fade out compared to regular aluminum. The downside is that decals don't stick to it as easily, so when they cover the whole piece of aluminum in a decal (striping), they went with the non-coated stuff that they put the stripes on flat and then crimped it as needed. That's why decals on the non-coated part hold up much better than the others.

Does it hurt the finish if you wax it? I had heard it was best not to wax.

That flat finish sure makes it harder to clean, even with Awesome

They say Krystal Kote doesn't need to be waxed, but I disagree. It can't hurt to wax it- it won't hurt anything if you do, and it might help repel the water a little better.
I agree, it is a little harder to clean, but not much. Tough spots can be scrubbed with a brush or Mr. Clean magic eraser.
In some of the short times that mine has sat outside, the center non coated aluminum is always the first to get dirty and look really dirty. But yes, it's the easiest to wipe clean with the Awesome/eraser combo.

A side benefit of the Krystal Kote not before realized by me. The coated siding is more hail resistant then the plain aluminum. From my recent side by side comparison test…. The center decal panel has about 186.25 hail dents in it and the Krystal Kote above and below has “0”.
While yes the spring cleaning can be more tedious to get the black yuk out, I now will never own an aluminum sided camper that is not Krystal Koted. 5 minutes of hail can make a really big mess on a camper unprotected.

I expected nothing less than a complete cycle count on all your hail dents, but I didn't need so much detail!
I'm kinda shocked that you haven't had a hail damage so far, because especially your slide side is quite venerable the way it's parked, and then here you get it away from home. How did your vents/Maxx Airs fair with this storm?

All the roof plastic was fine. I was up there washing it a few weeks ago. The lower Hudson Valley in area of NYS where Mom lives has had many a hail storm over the years.
My uncle lost his entire apple crop several times for a 5 minute hail storm in June. The hail makes a ding in the very young apple, about 1/2 to 3/4" in dia. Then as is grows it creates a hard rough spot around the hail hit site. By the time the apple is ripe to pick, any chance of US No. 1 Grade Fancy is long gone. No one will buy them for fresh produce because they look bad. The apple is just fine other then that nasty blemish. Then end up going right to the cider mill.

LOL... I thought someone would pick up on the 1/4 (.25) of a dent.... I did not count them all... However there is at least 10 to 15 per foot of camper length and when the sun shines just right, they even seem to even more multiply....
