Do YOU have snow?

Do YOU have snow? I sure do, 12.5" to be exact. I know this system is headed east, so for those of you out east, if you haven't seen this yet, you will. We also have strong winds, but these pics are protected from the wind and should be fairly accurate.

NO SNOW

Had ice all over the trees this am, very pretty, but all melted now. Wind picking up a bit and a few nasty looking clouds.

As of the time of this posting, we have received about seven inches on the ground. The storm swung further north than expected, so we experienced about twelve hours of sleet and freezing fog instead of more snow. The low will travel east causing the wind to shift to the north this PM, creating lake effect snow from Lake Ontario. When all done by tomorrow AM, we should have 20 inches from this storm, on top of the 27 inches this month already. Thank goodness that most of the old snow melted away. I can't wait for the morning commute.

I'm in Charlottesville, VA and we don't have snow. Had a little rain last night to make it annoying to walk to the theater to see Scrooge. (it was worth it) Talked to Steve this morning in PA and he said that the phones were out until 11 am, and NOT to travel home because he had no electricity, and the roads are a solid sheet of ice. UGH. We want a generator for the Tweety anyway, so I'm voting to get it now so when this happens we can at least run the blower for the gas heat. He said it was down to 56 in the house.

OK the Central Ohio contingent reporting in.

Snow yesterday, about 3 - 4”. Then last night rain. Today temps dropped like a rock, back to high wind and snow. But no major accumulation yet.

We got about 6 inches of snow over an inch of ice. Be careful out there. I was walking down the lane to get the mail yesterday and fell. I'm OK, but have a sore knee and stiff neck. Spending an hour on the old Super C blading the driveway didn't help any. I'm too old to do stuff like that. Bring me some global warming.

Sorry to rub it in, but the temps have been hovering right around freezing the last few nights

This is the closest I think we're going to get to snow this winter. This was in White Sands National Monument yesterday

Jon, I got a call from my brother in law asking me how to run my front loader I left at my parents so he could plow the driveway early this morning. It's times like this that I dont miss that Michigan weather. Although I would love to be snowboarding right now.

Stay warm

Pat

Pat & Cindy,

I am sure you are loving the "snow" that you have pictured. That is one amazing sight to see. When I was there in 1996 at 4pm it was 104 degrees outside and yet I was running around in the sand barefooted, as it was so nice and cool. Got to see a lizard run across a dune and leave footprints, and also saw what appeared to be a trail from a snake (glad I missed him). Please keep posting your wonderful pictures. The memories are great for me, and wll help others decide what they need to get on the road to go see.

Kitty

Thanks Kitty, I know that I seem like I say this everytime we leave a place, but White Sands was one of my favorites!

The endless dunes covered in gypsum sand made me feel like we were in the middle of a big snow storm. We didnt get to see the 104 degree temps you talked of, it was more like 40 degrees, but it's a heck of alot better than what everyone up in the east coast is dealing with.

That was our antenna last year at this time in Michigan, and why this year we are only 50 miles from the Mexican border

If you want to see more pictures from white sands, we uploaded a full gallery. http://www.everymilesamemory.com/gal...onal_Monument/

Thanks for the encouragement!

Pat & Cindy

After watching the first 3 quarters of the Buffalo-Cleveland game, I would guess you got some more snow on Sunday!

Ditto! I watched it off and on too and I can't believe they didn't call it. I turned it on about 5 mins into it and with the amount of snow already on the ground, I have no idea why they didn't call it.

We got about 10" of snow, and then about 1/4" of rain on top of it. There are actually puddles on top of the snow in the back yard.
I made sure to clean the snow off the top of the coach before it started to rain.
That Tyvek cover is great 'cause the snow and ice don't stick to it.

Cleveland, the city next to the Lake, about 2 hours north from here. Buffalo, the city affected by the same lake... Cindy's parents are from there.

Here in "Central" Ohio we only got about 1/2" on Sunday.

Jon liked it so much, that Cleveland just had to get some too...

You are more then welcome to keep it all up your way. We are very willing to share...

Central Ohio is a total miss mash of weather. No mountains to stop or hold a storm and no large lakes to create one. If you don’t like the weather, wait a few hours. Guaranteed to change....

Spent Sunday in my truck plowing and at the Firehouse. Why can't people stay home when there is a No travel advisory ? This is what I had on my back deck Sunday night.

The Date on my camera is wrong.

As for the people that drive when there is a no travel advisory. These are the same idiots that drive 60 mph in a snow storm. The same ones that dont leave early to get to work when it is bad weather. And last but not least drive around with a 1/4 of a tank of gas when there is going to be a blizzard. Then complain they ran out of gas because they where stuck in traffic due to the bad weather and the state didnt come save them. The state says they cant plow becuase there are so many people stuck on the roads becuase they ran out of gas or just shouldnt have been there in the first place .

In central New York we just came home from 14 days on a Caribbean Cruise to about 10" of the stuff. I have to admit I'm liking it less and less.

Boy the weatherman blew that forcast! When I went to bed last night, they were predicting a dusting to 1" for around here. There's now 8" on the ground, and it's still snowing lightly. I guess they picked the wrong computer model
