Cool Camping Christmas Gifts anyone?

Thought it would be fun to see if anyone got anything cool for their Sunline (or camping in general) for Christmas I got 2 Tweety coffee mugs. Steve got a SPOT which is on loan to the kids right now. Now he can go off on his crazy adventures and keep in touch with the OK, send help or the 911 button and be rescued. Right now it's sending me GPS coordinates in New Zealand to let me know the kids are safe

Well, not to sure it's a "cool" thing or not, and I bought it for myself. I finally bit the bullet and bought a pair of the BAL wheel chocks, the ones that go between the tires, have an attached metal handle and you use the included rachet wrench to tighten them against the wheels. It IS something that I should have spent the money on long LONG ago.

I really, really tried to get KD to go out and do some shopping but that ended with a meaty femur bone, a stuffed honking goose, a few bags of treats and OH, yea I got to pay the bill.

SO, as always, if I want anything done, I have to do it myself.

Sunny got a TV (television, not tow vehicle), which I suppose could double as a school TV if I want during the cold months.

Sunny also got a really neat door mat, to be revealed at the M&G, as well as a matching fleece blanket. It all matches some wrapping paper which I was very careful not to rip! It doesn't say Sunline anywhere though.

Best of all, my parents had been cleaning the basement this fall of old receipts and stuff, and my mom had been collecting any RV related ones for me. While she doesn't have the one from the hinged LP cover and tire cover, I do now have some for all my Sunline hats and shirts.

I bought my husband (uh, sure... ) a screen room for when we go camping. Our Sunline is small and this will add more space for us to spread out. It will fit over a picnic table. I also bought several inexpensive sets of DVD movies (over 150 movies) to watch on those rainy nights in campgrounds where there is no cable TV.

He bought me non camping related gifts.

Since it never fails that when one of us needs to use the flashlights, the batteries always seem to be dead, or dying.

I heard about a new flashlight that just came out called the Hybrid Light and saw them at Costco so we decided to get a few for stocking stuffers.

They have a little solar panel in the handle that recharges the battery. The packaging states the battery itself will hold a charge for 3 years

When I brought them home, (I bought 2, one for hte truck and one for the Coach) I set them in the widow sill with our Michigan Gloomy Weather to see if the overcast day would kick on the battery charging light to charge the thing or not.

To my surprise, the charging light kicked on and stayed on most of the day. The lights themselves arent comparable to my Surefire flashlight that throws a blinding beam across any darkness you could encounter, but they'll work great for working around the campsite and looking through a storage bin late at night.

They also say they'll keep buring for 10 hours on one charge!

Best thing is we never have to worry about replacing a battery or grabbing one of them and finding out the batteries are dead! I'll keep you posted as to how they hold up, but they say they're waterproof and have a lifetime guarantee and they're made in Utah!!

Here is a link to the website if anyone is interested. http://www.hybridlite.com/

Cant wait to get out camping now!

JohnB is on a distinguished road
Santa brought us 4 nice new yellow Monroe gas shock absorbers for “The Camper 2”. He had them some how tied off on the lower runners of the sleigh and was testing them out before delivery.

He also brought us a nice long 6 foot precision level so I can get our TT axle back in alignment….

He somehow forgot the Dexter EZ flex rubber equalizer. Maybe that was for farthers day??? I know for sure it was not for Mothers day...

Geocachers

Geocaching is a blast. Even the most isolated places we go like Labrador, we find a number of caches to search out.

We first used in in our hometown of some 20 years and were surprised by the hidden, interesting places we did not know about.

A perfect hobby for RVers.

Santa Gail got me a HD AM/FM/CD radio for the truck to replace the factory cassette player AM/FM. I guess an upgrade in tunes for the ole tow vehicle qualifies as a camping gift...

Living close to a decent FM market like Rochester NY means that there are some real decent choices in the HD back channels. Lots of new programming to chose from.

I guess it qualifies as a Christamas gift for Sunny. Before we headed for Florida we installed a Reese 1200# Straight Line WDH with the anti sway kit. What a difference! We also spruced her up with a new spare tire cover.

OK, sorta my christmas present, and I still could not get KD to go shopping. I went to Harbor Freight in Newport News, VA, and bought some tools.

3 piece set of adjustable wrenches, 6", 8" & 10"

3/8" 21 piece laser etched socket set with wrench (SAE & Metric)

1/2" 21 piece laser etched socket set with wrench (SAE & Metric)

22 piece combination wrench Set, 1/4 to 7/8, and 6mm to 19 mm

Now, these aren't Snap-On or Craftsman tools, they are Pittsburgh Steel with "limited lifetime warranty".

So, I figure for "girlie" tools, they "should" hold up

This also caused me to buy a bigger tool box to keep the tools in, and MAYBE I can be better organized.

I might need to make a tool belt for KD

My real christmas present was a wonderful trip to Williamsburg, VA for a week, stayed at American Heritage RV Park, and it's sure a great place. Will be returning there in April to host my "Open Roads Singles" 2009 East Coast Get To Gether.

Good grief, did that lens come with a dolly to help you carry it?
