Charleston, Savannah

Heading out next week to see Charleston, SC and Savannah Ga. Any suggestions for nice RV parks? We are looking at Mt. Pleasant/Charleston KOA and Savannah South KOA in Richmond Hill, Ga. Any others? Sue & Bob

We like James Island County Park in Charleston. It has full hookups, huge sites, and the park itself has hiking & biking trails, a pool, kayaking / canoeing, and is less than 10 minutes from downtown.
To visit Savannah, we stayed in Richmond Hill at Fort McAlister State Park. It was about 25 minutes to downtown. They don't have full hookups, but the sites are large and shady, and the fort is worth touring. The seafood restaurant about a mile before the entrance is excellent.

Tybee Island is a great place to stay. It is a wonderful island just outside of Savannah. River's End has full hook ups.

Here is a link to our pictures of Tybee.

Have a meal at Tubby's! There's one on the Riverwalk right in Savannah and the other is out in Thunderbolt.

The Riverwalk is not to be missed!

True that and don't miss having a tall glass of Artillery Punch at the Pirate's Cove (east end of historic downtown).

I realize the OP is looking for full hook ups, if possible, but I must put in my 2 cents and recommend Slidaway Island SP. We went for Christmas, hence the decorations.

The park's ecosystem changes from hardwood to tidal marsh and palmettoes from one side of the loop to the other. And yes, this is a pull-through site.

They have water, electric and cable TV. (I didn't want to miss a bowl game.) The Truman Parkway is a quarter-mile from the park's entrance so you can be in downtown Savannah in appx. 5 min. There is a small shopping center with a very nice grocery store at the end of a short, paved bike lane. The camp store has all the essntials (including coax cable, if you forgot yours). We lucked up on this park as this was our first camping trip to Savannah.
