Back in or pull-thru

Which do you prefer?

I like the back in sites. I try to get a site that backs into the woods. With the kids and the dog it's nice not having a rode on both sides of the site we're on.[/quote]

Back in. Especially if the site is configured in a way which allow me to have the doors open and awning side facing clear open forest with no few of other people/campers, etc.

This is why I have to stay in PA State Parks.

Ditto, no question. We don't like wide open spaces in the middle of a huge field.

Good question - I really don't have a preference. A pull thru is nice in that it is easy to pull in, and then out. However, backing my 2553 into a sight is seldom a problem either.

My choice of sight is usually based on proximity to other areas of interest and room on the sight. The challenge is knowing what a site looks like if you have never been to the location. Maps sometimes can be misleading as to size of site and how level it is.

I have just learned to be a little flexible and enjoy the trip!

PUll Thru/ Back in

We're typically on the road and rarely camp just for the weekend or vacation. As a result key criteria are satellite line of site and proximity to wireless internet. Both satellite and wireless allow us to stay in touch with the world we left.

We generally take back in sites. We reserve waterfront views when ever we can. Waking up in the AM and looking out that oversized rear window at the sun rising over the water is worth the extra fee for a premium site.

When camping like we do, I think we just find what ever and where ever we can, but if staying in a campground, I'd agree, back in with a good view over a pull-thru with campers on each side of us and a road on each side any day

I'll take a back in with a view like this anyday!

Nice cozy wooded back-in sites are what we like. The more trees and shade the better.

If we would have backed up, there was a pretty steep cliff behind us.

Hey Pat,

Good to hear from you. I'll take a guess, is that in Monument Valley ? If not, where was it?

Hye Kitty, yep, that is the campground in Mounment Valley right now. They're in the process of re-doing the normal campground, so they have you camped in a red dirt parking lot overlooking the Mittens

This was the View out the back window of the 2499! I wasnt complaining!

Sorry we havent been around, seems like we've been moving non-stop and when we're not moving, we're editing photos with any sapre time we have.

I need to sit and relax a bit and catch up on some of my favorite past time, sitting on here seeing what everyone else is doing

Great pictures! Not a place you'd want to camp for a few days and find out you've lost your keys. Thanks for sharing.

Take care,
Jason

Mark, I tossed back so much Makers Mark one night I think I did see some UFO's....LMAO

This was a Sunrise Shot on our First morning!

Here is a different sunrise shot from Artists Point, you have to drive down into the valley to get to this location. We had to be up and out here pretty early for this shot

Then after all that Makers Mark, Cindy made me sleep out in this tent..LOL

We like back in sites with some type of woods or scenic rear view.

Having a rear living area camper with a big rear picture window is just great to sit inside and look out....

We have actually never been in a pull thru before and never really gave it much thought. They just do not appeal to us.

Pat, those pic’s of out west are breathtaking. Thanks for sharing.

John

Back ins are usually nicer, but we had a cool pull through at Grayson Highlands where the pull through is a loop off to the right and parallel to the road. So, the whole door side of our Tweety looked out over the mountains. That's also a really neat method because the hookups are between your trailer and the street, so no one is overlooking anyone elses hookup stuff. So...that's my favorite!

My preference is level, full hook-ups with a sewer connection lower than my drain valve and descent site widths . Pull-thru or back-in doesn’t really matter, like other’s have said, it’s the other amenities of the site that make the difference.

Pull-thrus can have great views also. Here’s a picture of our favorite pull-through:

It’s from Golden Hill State Park in WNY. Looking out the front window to see the gazebo and Lake Ontario in the background. The view's even better when you have one of those rear living area floor plans like the T-2499s, T-310s, etc., just ask Bobo!

Pull-thru or back-in doesn't matter to us as long as the site is nice. We prefer the pull-thru's at our favorite state park as they are huge. It's 40-50 feet between sites with trees to help block the view. Only problem is 2 of the sites they didn't make the road wide enough to make the turn to drive out the other side.
