They do make an awning repair tape. I have used the Life Safe brand made by Icon Mfg. Here it is on Amazon

Incom Manufacturing RE3848 3" X 15' Awning Repair Tape : Amazon.com : Automotive

It works well for tears.

When you split in 2... explain this more as tape may not help is pending what you mean. A tear and a rip is one thing, but if the full length of the camper is split into 2 pieces the full length, it may be time for new fabric.

How old is the awning? is there sun damage up by the roof line?

I am right now in the process of buying new replacement awning fabric as mine is sun baked along the roof line. Going with Sun Wave

Quality RV Awning Replacement Fabric - Lowest Price Guaranteed

I have not yet bought from them, called them today and talked to them as they are out of 21 foot in my color until later this week when the next shipment comes in. But my research took me to these folks.

Hope this helps

John

I don't know about tape, but I replaced my fabric last year buying from PPL. They often run sales and will provide info to properly measure your awning. After reading and watching YouTube, I decided to let a pro install it. Overall, I think I spent around $450 for the whole thing.

There are other options, where did it tear in two? How far from the roof rail? 1 foot, 2 foot?

Reason is, if you are funding strapped at the moment and you are only a foot or so off the roof rail then consider this.

Take the awning fabric off, do this yourself if you have a heavy sewing machine or take it to a boat sail or awning repair shop. Have then trim off the upper part and re-sew on the bead to the awning and put back on. Yes, the awing is a foot shorter but it is a sound fix and better than no awning.

I almost considered doing this myself as only my top 12" is bad. The rest of the awning is in great shape. In my case I have plans for my old awning. (the slide)

VCRT pointed me to these 2 U-tubes. Amazing....

And if that is not enough, try here

It still amazes how much it out there on U tube now... WOW

Hope this helps

goosneck, My son and I replaced the awning on his tt. He watched a vidyo on you-tube on how to do it. It did take us about 1/2 day, but only cost about $250 for the fabric. I see your in Hellam, I'm in Mount Joy.

Hi folks! Kathy and I are going to be replacing our awning fabric on our T-2553 this summer. Our current awning is the original from 1996/7. The hardware is all good, but the fabric is truly showing its age. If there is an interest, we'll hold off and do the install at the Buttonwood Meet & Greet in June. We can make a workshop out of it so everyone can see it close up and get a little "hands-on". I'll post this up on the meet & greet page, but I wanted to get some feedback from here since the topic applies.
