Are these former FEMA Sunlines for sale

Found quite a few Sunlines model T-30(?) listed on RVTraderhttp://rvtrader.com/rvdetail2321646.htm. Odd that they do not have the Sunline logo on the front end nor from the pictures do they have the cabinet doors in the bathroom. They do not look to have been used, maybe bought by FEMA but never used?????

They look like the ones I saw going down I-81 for FEMA. Sagon RV had quite a few of them online for sale. By the looks of the one pictured, I'd say it was never used (even though ad says "used" ) I think is has to be sold as "used" since it sold to FEMA even thought it was never actually used. When a unit has been used as a FEMA unit, you can tell it in a heartbeat. The people that get them to use are pretty darn hard on them, and many have stuff stolen (cushions, microwave, mattress, and anything else they remove) out of them. I believe any that came from Sunline did have the regular RV holding tanks. The units were pretty bare boned to keep the price down for FEMA. But, the construction quality was still "Sunline"

I live near Sagon. I have seen these trailers. They are used. They are not completely finished on the inside either. Some of the cabinets do not have fronts on them. One decent trailer that they do have at Sagon is a used 2007 2363 that they are asking too much for. I took some pictures of it after someone from out of state inquired too late regarding the sale of our 1950.

The 2363 is in good shape. The carpet is stained (looks like one spill did it) and I am not sure it would come out. Below is a link to the 2363 pix.

Is it the last 4 digits of the VIN that tell you that?

Based on published stories of how these FEMA trailers were slapped together to meet an emergency need, I would never buy one.

Also, the manufacturers were allowed to create units which did not met all safety requirements ---with regard to materials used.

Hence all the health effects for the people who have lived in them for extended periods of time.

Well I bet they won't find any in the Sunlines!

Went to a camping show last weekend and could not stand going into the TT after about the 6th one....the fumes just got to me!
But then again they were not Sunlines!

When I picked up my "06 T-2499 July 7th, 2005 from Stoltzfus RV, there was no smell. I proudly towed my brand new custom Sunline home. Loaded it up and left the next day for a 30 day trip. That is something that I'd never, NEVER even think about attempting in any of the other brands. I've NEVER went into a new Sunline that had that smell that made you sick and burned your eyes, and I've entered & drooled over a lot of Sunlines, before I was finally able to order a brand new one for myself.

Judy is highly allergic to formaldehyde, which is in more products than you would believe, so we really have to be careful with it. While looking at Sunlines at an RV show about 3 years ago she said this was the first time she wasn't bothered by the formaldehyde at these shows. I wrote the company and received this response from Larue 2 years ago this month:

Quote:
We are one of the few manufacturers that have as much of the formaldehyde as possible removed for the paneling (the worst offender). It is called LOFT (low omission formaldehyde treatment). I know exactly what she feels when she walks into a brand X trailer. My eyes and nose start to burn and itch. The small amount that is still in our trailers will dissipate over time if the trailer is aired out often, especially in the first season. After that it is hardly noticeable.

This was a huge selling point for us, not to mention the quality build and customer satisfaction. Personally, I don't think we could have made a better choice.

FEMA to Step Up Trailer Relocations

"Fumes from 519 trailer and mobile homes in Louisiana and Mississippi were - on average - about five times what people are exposed to in most modern homes, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In some trailers, the levels were nearly 40 times customary exposure levels, raising fears that residents could contract respiratory problems."

I found a link to an interesting article about formaldehyde, and how to get rid of it on another RV forum. Has anyone seen this or tried it?

Just curious
