Almost a departing member........

Folks.........

After enjoying the Que for almost 2 years & 25,000 + miles..... we decided we might have downsized a bit too much from the 2363 (I, for one, began to feel a need for at least a dinette for comfortable sitting arrangements). At the same time..... we wanted to stick with the Tacoma tow vehicle. And immaculate-condition ultra-lite and larger Sunlines aren't readily available.

A trip several weeks ago provided an unexpected alternative..... and in northern Minnesota we traded the Que for a barely-used '08 22' Hi Lo.

So we will be withdrawing from the Owner's club. We have greatly enjoyed this club's uniquely upbeat, helpful, and sociable batch of members. Since we joined, Hutch & others have previously made it clear to everyone that the club is open to Sunline owners, former owners, and just fans. And after 3 Sunlines over 20 + years....we qualify for that.....but it just wouldn't feel right. Although we can move on with great memories and good feelings about the group.... being a Hi Lo owner in the midst of such a batch of arch-loyal (but friendly!) Sunline enthusiasts just wouldn't feel right.

There probably is still one very well maintained Que 5.4 SE on the lot at Ted's RV Land in Paynesville, MN, if someone is looking.

So.... thank you, everyone. We'll wave to any Sunlines we see on the road!

Frank & Sharon

Frank & Sharon:

I'm sorry we won't get to hear from you in the future. It would still be great to see you at next year's M&G at Buttonwood if you haven't cancelled your reservations. We would be interested in touring your new TT. Enjoy your new HiLo.

Well, I will also chime in to say it's sad to see you go. I have found your posts informative and well thought out.

I hope you enjoy your Hi-Lo, and that you keep us informed on how it performs for you. The hardside "popups" are pretty cool, after all- We helped a family set one up as a thunderstorm was rolling in here in MA this year- they got a steal of a deal on a Trailmanor- we were shocked at how nifty it really was!

And I'll add another +1 to come to the meet and greet anyway- it IS a good way to show off the new ride .

Happy Trails!

Greg

Frank & Sharon,

I have 2 things to say to you.

1. Donít withdrawal from the club.
Youíll always be a member of the club, no matter what you own.
and
2. Donít cancel your Buttonwood reservation.
First year it was Sunline Fans parentís motor home, this year it was Leeís Cedar Creek FW,
so we need a token SOB (some other brand) at each M&G.
2009 might as well by your Hi-Lo.
Plus Iím expecting a tour of your Hi-Lo next year and Iíll be very upset and disappointed if I donítí get it.

Hutch

Folks.......
We appreciate the posts and messages..... It didn't take too much arm-twisting to convince us to accept alumni status in the Club. Besides...... who could resist the chance to be a token SOB (see Hutch's prior post)?

We'll be at Buttonwood next year.

Thank you.

Excellent! Steve and I will anxiously await the HiLo tour We can certainly understand the need for a little more space than the QUE offered. Now I have to admit...we went a little tiny bit overboard with the Tweety

Frank, I'm glad to hear you've decided to stay. Whether a Sunline or HiLo, there's so much in common that I'm sure you'll find a lot of good suggestions and tips that will still apply.

Put me on the tour list next year too, but please, only in the "Hi" position .

Jon

I'm glad you decided to stay. This club is similar to the camping clubs that existed when I was a kid. It doesn't matter what TT you eventually end up owning, you'll always be welcome once you're a member.

Thatís great Frank, now we can still have a card game going at Buttonwood.

The sad reality is that eventually many of us will end up with ďSOBĒ. If RVíing is to continue in the future, new innovations may attract many of us to SOB. It is good to develop this group with Sunline being the common denominator no matter where we end up.

Regards,
Jay

OK, everyone....

Hmmm. Photos

Let's start with my admission that I can't do much more than write emails & research info on my computer. Therefore, I've recruited my son to help me set up things so I can insert photos here (I won't tell you how often I've failed at this in the past).

So I'm going to do past and present while I'm doing this, and send out 2 past Que photos, as well. I don't have interior shots.

1st...our Que SE at home.

2nd...our Que in Colorado in '07.

3rd...Picking up the HiLo in MN in 9/08 (TT down).

4th...HiLo at home 11/08 (TT up).

................that's past & present.

Frank

I have always been intrigued with the HiLo. Agree with John B...how 'bout the inside I know we can look at some dealer's website, but that's just not the same. I never understood the shower...can you get the walls wet? or is it a sit and rinse type deal? What is the differential in gas mileage? WE only lost a couple miles per gallon going from the QUE to the Tweety! But I know that they main thing that kills mileage is the frontal wind resistance.

John, Tweety....

First we'll deal with interior scenery, and then with the shower and other questions.

(1) I don't have interior photos, (and HiLo has been winterized and is sitting 8 miles from here....with its battery in our garage on a float charger). But I can give you easy access to photos and a panoramic video of an exact duplicate of ours. (WARNING....THIS IS NOT A HILO SALES PITCH).

Go to www.hilotrailer.com[/color]. At the HiLo site, 1st click on the HiLo Website button. Then click on "Complete line of Trailers". Next, in the column on the right, click on the 2008 TowLite 2208 listing.
That'll bring up interior photos, a controllable panoramic video, and the floorplan.

(2) About the questions:

===>I consider the shower arrangements to be the most awkward issue related to HiLo. (You can't see the following from the main room of the trailer due to the folding wall). Imagine 2 full-sized shower curtains that (when the TT is up) hang from ceiling rails to the floor of the stand-up shower, circling you as you stand in the shower pan. They're clipped together where they join at the rear, and overlap a bit to the front near the shower head and controls. The telephone shower snakes into the area inside the curtains with you, and you reach around the overlap to adjust the water controls. It actually works fairly well, and no water splashes out on the "hard" exterior walls. When one lowers the TT top, the shower curtains just fold into the shower floor. But this is one area where I miss the Que's oversized, luxurious shower arrangements. We've had to invent a new "stowable" towel rack to assure our towels dry thoroughly overnight (that's a view-at-Buttonwood item).

===> Mileage. Although our 22' HiLo TowLite (with options) weighs about 1000 pounds more (loaded) than did our Que, our gas mileage immediately jumped by an average of 20-25%. Clearly, the wind resistance reduction made a big difference.

And...Tweety......if you figure the "few" miles per gallon you lost in your upgrade from the Que as a % increase....it may look a bit more formidable!

Geez.....did you guys REALLY want all that explanation?

Frank

Frank,
Loved the explaination! and did some math Going from the QUE to the Tweety we went from 16 mpg to 13.3 mpg. I figured that as a 16.9% loss, or looking at it as a gain if someone would go from the Tweety to the QUE it would be a 20% gain. Very interesting...but not willing to do that LOL. We're loving the space. So if someone moved to a HiLo from a 28' TT they MIGHT get another 20% gain which would be from 16mpg to 19.2...now THAT would be amazing, but I doubt it would happen since the best The Beast has done free is around 21 mpg. (talk about long winded)
Can't wait to see the shower! It looks like an ideal set up for the type of traveling you guys do. We saw someone raise a HiLo once in a campground and it did indeed look like a matter of pushing a button and standing there for about 30 seconds. Do you have the pull down from the ceiling bed?

Thanks for the correction. I MUST figure out what I did wrong in entering the url.

John...
Thanks! Mutual tours at Buttonwood arranged.

Tweety...
Yes.... We do have the swing-down bed. But I we haven't had enough road experience yet to decide if we prefer using that one...or the sofa bed below it (across the front of the TT).
