8-20-13 Update

Angela was in court again on Aug 14 and Steven on Aug 15. both of their attorneys were given 5 DVD's with about 30 hours of interviews to view with them. Angela's pretrial has been continued to September 4th. Steven entered a plea of not guilty to the obstruction of justice charge and his pretrial is continued to September 5th and trial scheduled for September 16th.

Although the prosecutors said they are considering Elaina's disappearance a homicide, the last we've heard is that the police are still investigating as a missing person case and no other charges have been filed.

I met a woman Saturday who had just returned from a trip. She said she saw a missing person flyer for Elaina at a truckstop in Virginia. It's nice to know people are posting them farther than we are able to. I know one of our SOC members has posted flyers while camping in an effort to increase the coverage area (Thanks, Jack!)

Prayer vigils are still being held on Wednesdays and Saturdays. We appreciate the continuing prayers from not only those able to attend the vigils, but also those across the country who are keeping Elaina and the family in their thoughts and prayers.

I know it's been a while since I've updated this thread. We haven't learned anymore about Elaina's whereabouts.
I just got home from the courthouse a short time ago. Angela 'waived her right to a speedy trial' and her pretrial has been continued again (to 9-25-13) to allow her and her attorney more time to view the evidence DVD's.
Her boyfriend will be in court tomorrow and I plan on making another trip downtown.
We are still holding vigils twice a week. A special prayer vigil and march from the courthouse to the jail is planned for this Sunday.

This is so hard to post that it's taken over 14 hours to do so...

A box containing human remains was found yesterday afternoon in the boyfriend's mother's garage - about 200 feet from were we hold the Wednesday and Saturday evening vigils

. Unbelievable that Elaina was missing for 96 days and was found so close. The coroner has not confirmed it is Elaina (but we all know the odds). An autopsy will be done today and the police are holding a press conference at 10:30 AM that the local tv stations will be streaming live.

Everyone's prayers have been appreciated throughout this terrible time in our lives. Please continue to keep the family in your prayers as we say good-bye to this sweet, innocent child and try to explain things to her 4-yr-old sister.

I believe the garage was searched 3 months ago when she was first reported missing. Thoughts are she was removed from the house when her dad went to pick her up (or before) and that the box was brought back later and put in the garage thinking it would be a safe place that wouldn't be searched again.

We are new to this sight and so sorry to hear that you and your family truly must be hurting because of the unknown. May it be of some comfort that we too will join you in praying for your niece's were abouts to be known and that she be found safe. Praying for God's very best for you and your family.

Thank you everyone for the prayers and condolences.
We held a vigil tonight and had the largest crowd ever - probably over 300!
After a fight occurred yesterday between the boyfriend's family and people from the community who had never attended the vigils, plans were to have prayers only. We were afraid the walk might create a riot, but police were stationed on all corners with their cars/vans blocking traffic so the walk was a success. About 20 elderly and disabled stayed behind at the lot while the others packed the full width of the street and took 5 minutes to pass by while chanting 'Justice for Elaina'. I video taped it and watched the timer afraid that the card would fill up or the batteries would be exhausted after taking a lot of pictures and I wanted to be able to tape the balloon release too.
There is still pain ahead for those of us who will always have Elaina in our hearts and the great difficulty in explaining to her sister that 'Sissy' isn't coming home to her.
Though we understand and believe she is in a better place with no more suffering, our hearts still ache missing her and knowing she never had the chance to experience so many things little girls should.
