2001 T260SR slide problem

We are having a problem with our slide. To get it started in we have to lift it from the outside to get it started. Once started it will eventually come in although the process is very slow as we have to stop, wait and then go again. Repeating this process several times. The camper is now here at home and we would like to get it fixed. Not sure if it is the motor? Also, on our 2000 Sunline there was a place where you could manually crank in the slide if you had to. We can't seem to find it on this one, wondering if it has one. Thanks

It sounds as if the motor may be getting weak, or not getting enough power. Have you checked the electrical connections at the motor itself? It could also be a lack of lubrication. Wal Mart sells RV slide out dry lube, that you can use on the slide arms.

It's too bad you live 186 miles away... I'd love to come help you troubleshoot!

Thanks for the suggestions - we'll check the connections and get the lube and see if that makes a difference. If it turns out to be the motor - any suggestions? We appreciate the help!

I have a slide motor and actuator from a 2004 Sunline, but I don't know if it would match yours... Do you have any info on your slide mechanism? Pictures would help too!

BTW: Welcome to SOC!!!!!

Not sure if the 2000/2001 mechanisms are the same...

These pictures are from a 2000 Sunline slideout. Please let me know if this is the same mechanism you have.

First picture is one of the rollers, that are under the arms..

The gear, that retracts and extends the arm...

Motor and drive assembly...

The bearings in those rollers can get to where they drag and cause a lot of friction, when they are under load. It's possible that they need to be replaced, to allow the slide to move more freely. If it's only the rear of the slide that is dragging, I would be looking at those bearings and rollers very closely. Maybe have someone hand crank it, while you are watching.

A word of caution... When hand cranking a slide, DO NOT use a lot of force on the crank handle! With the gear reduction these things have, it is very very easy to over-torque the whole drive mechanism! The access for manually cranking the slide should be on the opposite (Door) side of the camper.

That is where the manual crank was on our 2000. But we can not find it on this 2001. Thanks again!

So here it is - time to get the unit ready and we still have the slide issue. In the book it says it is a Dewald Posi-Lok. I did see another post where someone else had the same motor and they were bought out by another company, so not sure how to proceed, any suggestions would be appreciated. Also, we have been all over this unit and there is no manual crank for the slide (although the unit has a crank handle in it). Not sure what happened there.
