1st time campers
We have recently purchased our 1st camper. We are trying to purchase items for it through out the winter so we are ready in the spring. So my ? is, what are some of the things that you have found to be "must haves"? ex:can opener, first aid kit and so on

I find it helps to have a set of towels different from your home towels so after wash, you don't mix them in with the home towels (and forget to put them back on the camper). Bug spray, marshmallow sticks, a long lighter, toilet paper, a grill to put over a campfire if you cook that way, fuses, extra bulbs for exterior and interior lights, flashlight, fire extinguiser, propane/CO/smoke detectors, clean potable water hose, pressure regulator for water, stinky slinky, tire covers. I'm sure others will have more ideas.

I found as I work in my own kitchen, I think if I am using an item I might need in the camper and, either buy one or see if I have an extra in the kitchen. Must haves are pot holders, oven glove, carrot peeler, glass dishes for microwave, steak knives, paring knives, various forks, spoons and serving spoons-slotted and regular, spatulas, hot mats, place mats, LOTS of dish towels!, assorted plastic left-over containers, mugs, as well as frying pans and various pots and pans. We were lucky that the former owner left many things, but we needed to supplement with our own to some extent. Don't forget various barbeque items if you will cook outside, lots of matches and a long lighter, and a table cloth and those things to keep in secured to the table. Folding chairs. Playing cards, a board game, magazines, paperbacks, puzzle books for rainy days. Since we went out a lot last summer, I kept extra prescription medications in the camper just in case I forgot them. Oh, extra pair of glasses, sunglasses, contact lens, etc. Gosh, I could go on and on !!!!!!!

Basic Neccessities:
1. Wheel chocks and boards or lynx levelers for leveling/stabilizing the trailer.
2. Sewer hose, clear 45 deg. plastic connector so you can see what going on when draining, elbow for connecting to sewer/dump station.
3. White drinking water hose for hooking up to house/campground water spigot. Pressure regulator for keeping pressure on trailer < 40 psi when hooked up.
4. Tie-downs for awning.
and a whole lot more But, these are basic things you'll need to set up your home away from home.

You might include a pen and paper to write down other things you find you need while camping.

The one thing we found very helpful is a patio mat or indoor/outdoor carpet, we even used a large tarp for awhile. It provides a clean area in front of the door. Saves allot of dirt from being tracked in.
