Splash Page

Somebody should really edit the splash page of this web site www.sunlineclub.com. It's REALLY out of date - especially now with the change in ownership. I don't think it has been updated since Sunline went out of business.

I think he may be referreing to the home page of our Sunline Owners Club web page:

Why a Sunline travel trailer, 5th wheel, truck camper, or RV? Sunline owners report high satisfaction with their purchases and many owners are on their third or fourth model. Owners cite the ease of dealing with Sunline RV, the excellent warranty and customer service, the high quality construction, and the excellent resale value as reasons for repeat purchases.

Please note that Sunline Owner's Club and SunlineClub.com is not affiliated with the Sunline Coach Company of Denver, PA.

Yep, that's what I was talking about - A "splash page" in web design lingo are those pages that load before you get to the real meat of the site. Since most of us just want to come into the forum (and probably have that book marked) we don't see or pay attention to what's on the first or home page of the site. Therefor I think of it as a "Splash" page even though it's probably not intended as such.

Andy R is infamous around these parts
What about just making the forums the home page. You can see an example of this at iRV2 - The Friendly RV Forum Community (note how it forwards you to the forums) and Club Touareg - Volkswagen Touareg Owners Community. This would get people to the "heart" of the site which is all the great people and discussions here on the forums.

I agree and I too have a bookmark to the forum page, but having an actual home page, well feels like home. It is sort of the introduction to Sunline Owners Club.

I guess most of us are bookmarked to the Forum but the main page (splash page) is where new people start. It would only take a small amount of HTML code change to remove the right side TD text (the stuff under Why Sunline) and add a line on the left (under Join Us) to say something like This is the place for Orphans.

I guess I'm the odd one out by having the main page bookmarked instead of the forum page. I just have always had it that way so I do get to see if there are any changes to that page then.

If you're the odd man then so am I Jon. I have the main page book marked too. I like having a home page, but agree it needs updating.

I think the Home Page is important - and I also think it needs to clearly spell out the current situation with SunLine. Remember - we all know the story - but when I first came here I didn't. I bought a used Sunline and was looking for information. It was here that I learned the plant had closed.
But for a while I was VERY confused by the home page of this site. I couldn't figure out how the site could be so active yet the home page so out of date.

This is THE Sunline site now - it needs to be a place where people who Google our trailers can find out that they are, indeed, good equipment - and easy to find parts for and maintain. The home page needs to tell that story so that it helps keep all or our resale values up.
